Help with bachi

Hi everyone I finally got my shamisen but only comes with a plastic bachi. Would this one be a good buy https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F321935967883

Hello. I can only speak for myself when I say wooden bachi is the best. I tried plastic, too harsh of a sound, tried a friend’s bekkou, nice but I’d have to sell one of my kidneys in order to be able to afford one. Wood will give you a nice sound, not too sharp. The only issue is if you play tsugaru with wood is that it doesn’t take abuse all too well.
This is my personal experience though.
Cheers!!!

Hey there.

That is the same bachi offered on the shop here. (FYI: it might be cheaper here than on eBay)

It’s a modern style resin/plastic that’s similar to ivory in terms of sonic character. Perhaps a little sharper. You can definitely get a nice snap out of it with good form, and that’s really the goal.

It’s a little stiff, but wood is even harder in my experience. At least, the wood I’ve used.

If you’re just starting out, it’s a great option.
