Derik I think yahoo auctions is the place to find what you are looking for. I am still researching but you can use a site like:
ZenMarket.jp
Through their site you can access all the yahoo auction ads in english. By joining you can bid via their site. Once you win an auction you pay them being ZenMarket.jp (plus a small fee and shipping). Ultimately they will send you the item anywhere in the world. Also if you have any questions on an item for sale they can speak to the seller on your behalf
Definitely worth a look.

Hey Sakura Yahoo auctions is a Japanese online auction site… similar to eBay. More Japanese use this to sell various things (including Japanese instruments) than eBay. It can be quite hard to buy things off Yahoo Auctions if you are not based in Japan though there have been a number of 3rd party services (i.e. Zen Market.jp) that allow you to bid on an item through them and they will ship it to you any where in the world.
