Shamisen Sheet Composer

I still make notation the way Gerry did, except using CorelDraw12. Hence my reluctance to make notation. :-S (That’s why this program you guys are making is going to be sooooo awesome!)

As for the arc with the 3 over it: I can’t remember if I saw that somewhere, or made it up 'cause I couldn’t think of any better way to describe it. Maybe it should be more like a straight bracket as opposed to an arc?

If you remove the line and the the number, could you be confused about what you are meant to do?

If we make this program, we could be part of setting the new standard  At least for us outside of Japan. While we have that opportunity to change stuff, don’t forget that a program like this can easily be made very flexible. We could simply have an option that changes the look of certain things in the notation.

Hi there,

Maybe you have already abandoned this project, but I sincerely think it would be much better that you suggested the guys that make Guitar Pro to support Shamisen and provide them with all the help they may need (explain the notation, recording soundbanks, etc). The main reasons are:

  • These guys already have a lot of infrastructure and customers.
  • I guess initially your application would not support other instruments apart from shamisen. If somebody wants to play in a band or ensemble it would not be that useful.
Therefore, adding shamisen to a tool already developed like Guitar Pro seems much easier.

It seems a Tony Kobashicawa already made such suggestion to the Guitar Pro guys here http://blog.guitar-pro.com/2011/05/guitar-pro-6-0-8/ I think if they do not develop such option, it is because they are not having enough demand or help. What do you think?

Best Regards,

I have no objection to Guitar Pro being able to have shamisen notation. Actually I think they already support that you create your own instruments by specifying the amount of strings and how they are tuned.

The Shamisen Composer was made so that everyone can make notation without having to buy expensive software.

It isn’t done yet, and there are some bugs. The biggest reason that it is being updated slowly is that there doesn’t seem to be many people who are in need of making notation. Here’s the link for the composer http://shamisentest.karlhedlund.se

It is linked through the site as well here: http://bachido.com/wiki/Home
