You don’t need reservations for the train tickets, you just buy the ticket there and then. It won’t be a problem.
Last year Grant and I bought our tickets two minutes in advance, it was a miracle we made it to the train. Lol.
Oh, I see! By train, you mean the shinkansen?
Yeah man, getting up to Misawa is really easy, even on short notice.
I’ve taken the shinkansen every year without fail. I’ve also gotten a JR pass, and can say that it can be worth it if you are staying only a couple weeks. The trip to and from Misawa pays for a lot of it. However the JR pass does not cover the cost of many of the local trains in Aomori.
Okay. You definitely have more experience on this than I have.
Alrighty then! Going on what Anne said,
29th We all meet at Harajuku Station
30th We all shuttle up to Misawa. (Kevin, any thoughts on accommodations? Hotel or everyone in your bed?)
1st
Practice, blog and have fun! Perhaps a trip to the concrete beach!
2nd
Group practice with Nitta san. Bachido party after.
3rd
Depart in the Bachido party bus to Hirosaki!
All individual division C class members will compete on this day, so we’ll leave early
4th
Team Bachido takes the stage!!
5th
All head over to the Kanagi Taikai for just for fun.
Back to Misawa. At this point, we’ve decided on where to go on the road trip.
6th~7th
Road trip!
After the 7th, I’m probably gonna head off to Tokyo, as I’d like to meet Linda for the first time in our 5+ years of acquantence (however that’s spelled).
Snap! If I’m not mistaken, it looks like we’ve got a plan! :-D!!
Thoughts?
Sounds good. Only thing is that i don’t have time for afterwards road trip ( which would be so awesome) because plane leaves from tokyo to helsinki on 7th day but the train to misawa and some chilling the f**k out from 1st-3rd day sounds great!
and my plane leaves finland on 29th day and i’d be in tokyo around 11 am at 30th… (unless something goes wrong)
I filed the funding formats (2 different ones to different places)
yesterday and they had the old roadtrip plan ( though they don’t know about the roadtrip just the drive from tokyo to hirosaki)
and this flight schedule i just explained…
So i get answers if i get the funding or not in month or two from this point.
The plan is awesome, probably the easiest and most relaxed plan ever! Yey!
I’ll put some more details into the 29th and 30th. Meeting times and places, you know. I’ll get back to you soon about that, so we can discuss and change if needed.
Ortjo: I’m quite sure you’ll get your funding and that you can change your travel plans during your stay. I wouldn’t worry so much.
Kyle: Yeah, I mean the shinkansen, just as Grant wrote. Last year was also golden week, and the trains were never a problem.
So should I start looking for a rental car in Misawa, or can we ask Nitta-san to do that? Or Kevin, can you check that out?
I really hope so too Anne
Daamn i’m so thrilled about this.
It’s going to be epicly wonderful!
Hey!!! This is absolutely great!
Got a good idea of which parts I need to focus on!
And I’m relieved to hear we’re gonna play it a bit slower… phew.
But I’ll get as fast as possible, of course!
Bought my tickets today, now there’s now turning back! (As if that was ever an option.)
Thanks for the video, I love you too!
Ditto, ditto, ditto, ……
Thank you so much, Kevin san!!
)^o^(
It’s been so long since I have been on Bachido. I started to play some shamisen again and it feels great.
I will be rooting for all of you in spirit
Yeah man you were trying to get that jam-webcam going on but people didn’t really pick up on it.
Stev!! It certainly has been quite a while! Too bad you can’t make it to the taikai, but we’ll kanpai in your honor!
Karl: Yeah, it seems any attempt at some sort of group chat failed 'cause of the whole time zone thing I think.
I’m sure all of you participating will be wonderful. It’s incredible to see this actually happening ; the community evolved so much since I was last here.
When I played my shamisen again, I forgot some pieces I learned . Oh well it’s time to retrace my steps and learn them again .
Hey all Bachido team members! Time is running out! So far I’ve met with Jamie, Kyoko San (a little )and Anne in Sweden over Skype ! Everyone else who wishes to prepare for the Kita no Hibiki group please send me a message and add me to your Skype (I have a new skype name and will tell it to whoever writes to me!) all right everyone! Contact me and let’s get to work!!!
I second that! Time is flying fast, ladies and bros. Gosh, it still feels like January!
Anywho, it’s really time to start getting solid on your piece, so check in with Kevin to ensure that you have all your Kita no Hibiki questions answered so you can confidently play!
Anyone living in Tokyo area wish to practice together Kitano Hibiki? Thinking of gathering in April. Please give me a message. English or Japanese whichever is convenient.
Alright, I’m a late-comer, but I’ve read just about everything I could find here on Bachido in regards to this event/trip. I’m 95% a “go” on making the trek out to Japan and participating in the festivities. It isn’t entirely clear if I will be part of the actual competition, but I intend to be present at all gatherings. Super stoked!
I have been allowed by my sensei to join you guys at the taikai! looking forward to it : )
