Hello. My name is Angelica, but feel free to call me Angel.
I am very new to shamisen playing. Ten years ago I did a month long study abroad in Japan. My host mother plays and teaches nagauta shamisen and taught me the basics of Sakura. However, I forgot everything when I returned home. Recently (two months ago to be exact) I was given the opportunity to start learning sanshin, so I jumped at the chance. Just last month a friend in Japan mentioned that he had a shamisen for sale so I scooped it up immediately. In my free time I play taiko with a local group (have been a member for over a decade) and now am working on learning both shamisen and sanshin. Any tips, suggestions and/or encouragement are greatly appreciated.
