I am a shamisen player from East Tennessee, and a member of the Shamisen Knoxville group. I first started with the shabo in the fall of 2022, and later bought a full size tsugaru futozao shamisen in the summer of 2023. Since getting my shamisen, I have made time to practice every day. The shamisen is such a beautiful instrument and is a big part of my life now. I love sharing the sound with others.

I studied Japanese for 5 years during undergrad and gradschool, got a minor in the language, and am able to speak conversationally. I had the opportunity to visit Japan for a time during the summer of 2018 as part of my studies. I first discovered the shamisen while learning and studying the language and culture of Japan.
