I’m a koto and jiuta shamisen teacher in Toronto, Canada (both in person and online lessons). Have played koto for too long to mention, and jiuta for a little less than that. I came to Tsugaru shamisen by accidentally(!) attending a live performance by Takahashi Chikuzan and his student, the now Takahashi Chikuzan II, in California many years ago. I studied Tsugaru shamisen on and off for around four years and got up to about intermediate level, but then had to give it up for lack of time. Currently a lapsed Tsugaru player.
