Greetings! Lucked into a nice instrument in playable condition on eBay and can’t wait to start playing.

I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, where I portray a Japanese persona and I am interested in learning to research an early or at least traditional repertoire - though I did stagger through the melody line of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on a dare from a friend before I reset my password last night. I aspire to getting good enough to come up my own arrangements for gagaku melodies.

I took piano as a kid and I can maybe remember three or four chords on a guitar if you handed me one. I play medieval hurdy-gurdy, plucked psaltery (a sort of box harp), and pennywhistle and am better by ear than off a score.
