This song works quite well on a shamisen. It would be cool to play the bass part with another instrument or another shamisen.
There is however a problem. This version is played in the key of D, and if you listen to the shamisen it sounds pretty crap. There is no treble. I’m not really sure what they have tuned it in but it almost sounds if they have changed the pitch of it afterwards.
You can tune your shamisen in D but according to some folks that’s really the highest you should tune it, and it’s a lot of tension so I wouldn’t recommend it.
The original piece from Final Fantasy V (which is the Japanese game that I think has been released on newer platforms in English) is played in F so that’s even more awkward.
In any case I made my version so that it sounds the best with the shamisen, meaning the key is the same as the ichi and san are tuned in. If you want you can play the san part on ichi instead.
