I’m sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I’ve had trouble choosing between "Store/Sales and “Construction/Repair” so forgive me 
So I’ve gotten really good with my Sanshin, I can even play a few Shamisen songs on it. Here’s the thing though, it’s a wooden dou sanshin. It’s kind of mellow and warm and I’d prefer the sharper tone of a snake skin Sanshin dou. Does anyone know a site that sells Sanshin dou that I can just attach the Sao of my Sanshin onto?

Hmm… good question. Like shamisen, I doubt sanshin dou/sao are interchangable. However, you would no doubt be able to make it work with a file or shims (depending if it’s too tight or too loose)
A friend showed me her sanshin from Asoviva Sanshin. It was really nice. So nice, I wrote them asking if they could make affordable shamisen for Bachido. Well, that’s another story, but they wrote back and were very accommodating. In any case, they might be able to sell you the dou separately. asovivasanshin.com Send them a message and find out!
Maybe just learn from Kyle’s book make one mold out of your sanshin.
