Anyone have this? I think the song I am looking for is the theme song but I don’t remember the name…I think it is called “PATH OF THE WIND”.
HELP???
I have a hand-written shamisen notation of a very simple version of Path of the wind.
Is there anyway you can scan it and email it? anything…??? PLEASE…
Sure. Later today I’ll post it here.
But I have to warn you, that it’s written of a piano tab, and since I’m not familiar with standard music notation at all, my version can be not so accurate
Anything is GREAT…if nothing else, it is a good starting point. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Hi K H,
I am thrilled to see your work transcribing music for Shamisen tab.
I also would like to point out a few things for you for your future improvement. I don’t know much about your background but I wonder if you have one of those stickers that show you the position numbers? Sometimes they are stuck onto the side of the fingerboard and show you a rough estimate of each position.
For futozao Shamisen the numbers go . . .
0-1-2-3-3#-4-5-6-7-8-9-9#-10.
I just wanted to send you out some pointers here. I think perhaps when you write 2# you probably mean 3. Also 0# I am guessing you mean 1. Main thing I want to share with you is that you won’t ever find those numbers 0#, 2#, 6#. Etc.
There are only TWO positions that use the # symbol. Those are 3# and 9#. To my knowledge “b” (flat) is never used.
Hope that helps and again, it is awesome that you are doing this. Sharing the spirit of music is one of the things this site is all about so it is very cool that you are willing to help out a fellow bachido member to find the score for Totoro music.
Hi Kevin,
Actually yes, I have that number sticker.
You’re right, I should have mentioned the following:
On this sheet “#” means only “3#” to save some space. So there are no 2#, 0# - they are 2 followed by 3#, 0 followed by 3# etc
Also now I assume the “b” is 9# (the position after 9 is marked as just “b” on my shamisen though)
Oh yes… Come to think of it on rare occasions I do remember seeing the “b” sign next to 9 on a few Shamisens in the past.
Instead of #.
Anyway keep up the tabbing!
Thanks.
Now I’m working on transcribing the Darkwing Duck theme
hehe could i post a request for some tab?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6VVzpSzwXQ
i’ve been trying to transcribe this for 3 days an i’m not 100% through haha
usually only takes me a day at most, but this has loads of notes
Cana,
I’m off to teach two lessons now (new students , yay!) but when I get home later tonight I think I’ll give this tune a shot! Cool tune! I’m a little burned out on transcribing though so I may just play it with a close up etc. or something. Anyway hang on there… I’ll be back in approx. 4-5 hours!
lucky! haha i would love to be your student, and thank you
new fridge just arrived had to order an american fridge due to english fridges being made for hobbits with hardly anything to eat ^^;;
darkwing duck would be AWESOME!!!
Cana,
Just finished a quick cover of that tune. I am sorry that I could not provide tabs But I am currently suffering from a mental condition known as “too burned out to tab anything else today”! I had to spend a bit of time this afternoon making tabs for two new students and I just can’t handle it anymore today. Fortunately though I am almost always up for playing/learning a new tune by ear etc. so instead I just played along with the piano version. I will add the link in a minute here, once it is done processing…
Cana,
P.s.
So like I said, instead of tabbing it out I tried to get a good enough camera angle so you see the fingering I am using etc. I hope this at least helps a little.
Neil,
Forgive me for changing the topic here. I know you were looking for Totoro. Hope you got some help from K H. And his transcription.
Hey! If you get it down, please post a video. We here at bachido love video posts. It’s an awesome way to get to know who’s out there beyond the text comments ! Ya know what I’m sayin?
Yeah!
