Bachi material for a bass

Hi there ! I’m new on this communauty, and i’m not fluent in english, so sorry by advance if some sentance may sound a bit cryptic.

I’m a bass player, and recently i met a shamisen player, it was such a blast playing with him in jam (jazz). And it made me think about something, could we use a bachi (i think its called like that) on a bass ? I tried with him and it work, but i have an issue with the material, a plastic / weak wood bachi will break in no time agains’t bass strings. Is there bachi made of (pernanbouc, i think it’s called pernambuco in english ?) or any material that could support being hit agains’t metal strings ?

Thanks by advance for your answer, sorry it’s not 100% about shamisen, but i don’t know where i can ask if it’s not here.

I think the only material that would withstand it for a little longer (because I don’t think there’s something that will last a very long time against those massive strings) would be a carbon fibre composite bachi, like this one: 🎈Black Friday🎈Black Carbon Bachi – EzoFujiJapan
The handle is not great, and you may want to cover it with something, like those tapes used on tennis racket handles.

A bachi on a bass must give it quite the slap, doesn’t it?
Please post a video back here when you get your bachi.
I’m eager to hear it.

That actually a really good idea, gonna try to buy this one. Thanks.
And of course i can send a video once i get it .
