I set “Community Update: disabled” in profile but the bachido site still sends me a ton of emails with subject like “New reply to blablabla”.
Seems the site literally is saying “bachido is never enough!” :3

Yes, I know about the “Following” button, but should not it be disabled by default?
I kid you not I currently have an email client count of unread emails 1047 for the address in use for bachido . . .
I don’t blame the site for that though as for default following on or off I guess either way can meet different users’ preferences so whatever I guess as for my opinion on this . . .
I agree that there should be some way to disable follows alltogether.
Well, you guys must not love Bachido after all.
Just teasing! I’ll tell Luke.
OK, guys, let’s figure out how we want to do this. Currently, when you reply to a thread it is automatically followed. I could add a setting to disable follows altogether, does that sound like a good idea? Where would I put the “switch”? Maybe I need to redo the “community update” section and make it about communication preferences in general…
Just a switch in account settings should be fine. And I think auto following should be disabled by default for new users.
Also maybe we should consider implementing some poll system to add to a new thread? We could use it for questions like this. Just a thought
Yeah in the options you can turn off the email stuff, there should be an option for this there. Also, if you want to keep the automatic follow thingie, I think you should add it so that you follow the threads you reply to, and that you don’t get news about new threads automatically.
Karl, that is how I have it configured. Are you sure you find yourself receiving emails about threads you haven’t followed (“starred”) or replied to? Because if so, that is some sort of weird bug. I only receive notifications about threads I’ve participated in and are still following (which is not very many).
Maybe I’m just replying to ALL the threads!
I’ll take a look next time a new thread shows up and see if there’s any problem.
God damn, it’s 1 AM here and I’ve been playing guitar to Exodus for a couple of horus and my fingers are almost bleeding. It will be a welcome break to play some silk strings on the shamisen in the coming days.
