【BadApple!!】 Tab?

Hail Bachido Community!

Curtis here, no longer lurking and coming out from the cracks of the Bachido forum! As the title suggest, I’m looking for a small bit of the tab for the song “Bad Apple”. And yes, I am indeed referring song featured in the Touhou series of games. I while back I stumbled upon the following video and now that I can play me some shamisen, I would love to learn a few pieces of this song.

I’ve also heard that some more musicly inclined individuals can recognize the notes as they are being played. I’m specifically looking for tabs for the parts around 1:00, 2:15, and 3:15. So if anyone could lead me in the correct direction or know a link to the tabs, I would be most grateful!!

If not, enjoy the listen, it’s a great song!

Whow! Thanks for sharing! Epic song

If someone makes tabs for this i’d like to have them too :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: after watching this some more i’d say that the shamisen parts in this song are quite easy actually. Just sounds so awesome with rest of the group

I like the song too, but I would say the melody of the flutes is what makes it good. The shamisen is not really in focus but more used as a background instrument. What I’m saying is that its always sad to see when the shamisen doesn’t get to shine as it can

Indeed Ortjo, they do seem easy. Not something out of reach for beginners that’s for sure!

You’re right Karl, not the focus nor the shining spectacle they could be! But hey, its the collaboration of all the traditional instruments here that makes it so cool!

Upon searching for the tabs a while back, I discovered the woman on playing the shamisen on the right. It would seem she is quite famous for playing the shamisen? I can’t recall her name but she does have an official site. She also seems to have done all sorts of music and writes her own stuff, but alas…I couldn’t read the kana on her site…'twas too hard for me… :frowning: That said, I thought the perfect place to share and ask would be here!

Actually, there was an English button on the top right! Explore away!

On another note, I was curious as to why she switched Shamisens in the middle of the song? My best guess is that it was tuned differently for the second half? Is this a very common occurrence in the professional Shamisen world?

Whoa, holy derp. I never knew saw that, thanks Nicholas!! Clearly your reading ability has far surpassed my own :stuck_out_tongue:

And as to your note good sir. Not to sound like I know everything about shamisen, because I don’t, but I do believe you are correct. I believe the other shamisen is tuned differently (There are three different tunings if I remember correctly). The shamisen in this version of Bad Apple replace what would normally be real vocals, which is why I believe she switches at that point in the song. It is at that time where the vocals and tone of the song become much softer, so it wouldn’t surprise me if a different tuning would be required to match the “would-be” vocals in the original song.

Just my thought :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for the link, sir!

I think she might just have wanted to act like a rock star when the cameras were on and all.

Oh Heck Yeah! Rhapsody is one of my favorite CDs of Shamisen music ever! It’s not Tsugaru, But (sorry Tsugaru fans ) much much more diverse, interesting and multi dimensional ! I think it’s either the last or second to the last track that blew my mind right out of my skull. I’ll have to go dig it out of my pile of CDs . I know I have it somewhere around here.

Naguta, if I’ve done my homework correctly? Regardless, I loved this take on the song and want to play it so bad. She has some wonderful stuff! I’d have to tune the Tsugaru differently I imagine, but nonetheless I still want to learn it! :stuck_out_tongue:

looool no probs man. I’ve been on many foreign websites before, so whenever I go to one I immediately look at the top right of the screen: it’s pretty much the universal spot to have different languages for websites. On rare occasion, it’s at the very bottom of the home page.

I see. I knew about the other tunings, but I pretty much had similar thoughts to Karl at first. Thanks for clearing that up though.

Oh and so you guys know, that song is actually a cover of a song from Touhou. The group does Touhou and Vocaloid covers, and they are truly awesome

Whoa, it’s Nami Kineie! What a pleasant surprise to see one of her videos here. I have that Rhapsody CD too, Kevin. I’d heard an excerpt from the Shamisen Concerto on that recording and it sold me. Had to hear the rest.

Nami Kineie and her ensemble is like my main Shamisen inspiration. You guys should check out her album “Wagaku Hana Dochuu”. It’s Nami and her ensemble doing covers of Vocaloid songs

I love this rendition, i listen to it all the time! ^^
