Beginner Shamisen Purchase

Hello. I’m brand new to shamisen but adore the sound, especially how it mixes with western insturments, but am unsure about a specific purchase. The shamisen is question is named “EC Honkaku “Tansao” Performance Condition Minyo Chuuzao Shamisen” and is currently at 349.99 USD.

This seems like a very reasonable price for a beginner shamisen and will help me get my feet wet, but would like a second opinion from someone who knows more. Is this a quality instrument or will I be better off with something else? Thank you in advance for any information!

Welcome to Bachido! :slight_smile: Glad to have you here. Just took a look at that shamisen. Wow, it does look like a very good price for such an instrument that’s already skinned and includes a bachi and koma. From what I can see by the pictures, it appears to be in good condition.

And in any case, definitely hard to beat that price. I’d say it’s worth a try! :slight_smile:

Great! Thanks for the prompt reply. Couldn’t help but think I was getting a good deal, but wasn’t 100%, figured there might be some catch. Was able to get the entire thing for 349.99- lucky!
