Busking/playing in public spaces in Bay Area and Sacramento?

Busking was brought up in a previous topic and I just wanted to ask if anyone knows of specific laws/regulation regarding busking or practicing in public in SF/Bay Area or Sacramento?

With the nice weather I really want to just practice outside (not really caring about busking so much) but I also don’t want to get a ticket.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the rules are or if there is a website to look up. I know of the SF Port/fisherman ward permit regulation but I’m not interested in practicing over there.

I’m just wanting to practice while I wait for a class in JTown or if I can play in a park in SF or Sacramento - or if that gets considered as busking and I would need a permit?

I think if you’re just like “Hey, dude, I’m just playing for funzies” then they shouldn’t be too hard on you about it. I mean… Me and my friends frequently go to parks and just jam out. If you clearly have a money receptacle, then there maaaay be some shifty-ness. But I just say go for it; jamming out, that is. There aren’t many rules about playing instruments in parks.

I don’t think you’ll have much trouble if you’re just out there playing and don’t have a tip jar out.
