Hi everyone! I’ve been getting a lot of good ideas from everyone here on making/fixing shamisen and I’ve been kicking around the idea of developing my own skin. The problem is, I dont have a properly skinned dou to compare to! If people could share short clip of them rapping their fingers or fingernails on the skin, I can get a better idea of what my target sound is

I’ve been consuming vast amounts of shamisen youtube the last week. I don’t have links off the top of my head, but a number of shamisen makers, both home workshop and commercial have videos showing the skinning setup, including fingernail rapping on stretched skin. Just cursory searches for making shamisen or shamisen workshop or homemade shamisen should find some, especially if it’s split in parts and focused on skinning.
What size dou do you need referenced?
Im working on both a jiuta and tsugaru, but anything helps build an auditory picture!
