Hey Bachido team members! I’m calling all those signed up to participate this spring to an NHK Skype emergency! It is slightly before 9:00 a.m. japantime (Thursday) in exactly 27 hours (Noon Japantime Friday ) a reporter from NHK Japan (from Tokyo) will be here at my home interviewing me in regards to the 15 year anniversary of TAKAHASHI CHIKUZAN’s passing. Over the phone we discussed topics for the interview . So I mentioned that this spring we are planning a bachido group performance at the Hirosaki tournament. I went on to mention that I meet with certain members over Skype to work on parts and so far I have met with people in Sweden (Anne) and America . For part of the report he then asked if I could have someone Skype me during the interview. I confidently said to him “Yeah, no problem!” and so it is with that thought that I now ask you, someone, anyone, PLEASE Skype me noon tomorrow Japantime! Even if your not a team bachido member! I just need SOMEONE from bachido to Skype me! If you’re not a member of the team just pretend you are thinking of coming out…or something! Anything! Once again it needs to happen approx. 27 hours from the time I post this here! Jamie, Johnathan, Travis, Anne! Kyoko, Anyone…???
P.s. I know It’s kind of weird but this is actually going to be for radio, not TV. So they want to just record the sound of the Skype session. And report about it, I guess. Just so you all know.
Noon at your time is what in Vancouver? I can do this for you, Kevin, if no one more ‘established’ works it out.

Hey Kevin, I want to try and influence you into trying to make some publicity for Bachido.
I think we could have many more Japanese players such as Kyoko to join here. It would be great if we had a stronger bridge between the Japanese shamisen scene and the enthusiasts from all over the world. The benefits for Japanese players would be to meet new people and to become better at English.
I don’t know. I just think it feels like you have an opportunity to try and get some people interested. Unfortunately I doubt many people listen to the radio these days. Especially young people who might be more inclined to joining a community like this.
No doubt the group performance will serve as a huge advertisement

It was certainly an epic experience! With the eyes of the NHK reporter on us, Kevin planned out the simplified version in it’s entirety (while I played the main part) in just 5 minutes! Then we wrote notation for it two weeks ago! I think the reporter was genuinely impressed.
Then we started realizing that I was my own uncle, but by that time, he had to go.
Radio fame is here!
I also had a great experience. I got some advise on playing Kita no Hibiki by Kevin san directly.
And it was nice I exchanged greetings with a man from NHK.
I could see Kevin san and NHK man o Skype but unfortunately he said he could not see me. No problem for NHK recording, though.
