Yoops! Switched songs to Tarmenita (done by Wayna Picchu), so all should be well.
It’s just past midnight and I’ve returned from a whole day with the master mixers at Gadgetbox.
Oh my… When Mason (our bass player) told me they were the best, he was not exaggerating. Patrick, the audio magician, is a super nice guy and was just on top of everything. There are several songs with 20 tracks worth of layering, and he managed to adjust it all so it blended together nicely.
Granted, it’s definitely gonna take a little while to pay it off, but it is well worth the cost.
Final day tomorrow!
Had hoped on comparison clips and a blogcast with this Patrick but you can’t have it all
Will be really cool to hear the difference! He looks like he’s into metal. Now that he has mixed the shamisen with various instruments he might have some insight for you when it comes to blending shamisen and metal, unless you’ve already asked that!
Karl: You should know I never turn down an opportunity for an episode! There will be blog.
Yeah, he’s very musically well rounded, including metal. I haven’t asked him about adding shamisen to metal, but I might do that today. Of course, the main problem will be to quell the feedback from my piezo pickup. It’s feeding back kittens when cranked up. :-S
Could always ask the Shamisen Metal expert:
Kevin Kmetz.
Super excited about the mixing! This is going to be amaaaazing!
SHMETAL FOREVER!!!
Back for dinner break.
Gaaahh, I can’t hold the surprise! Amid adding compression and different things to my shamisen solo in one of the songs, Patrick decided to add a guitar amp effect . Yes, this album will have a good 10 seconds of solid Shmetal! Distortion and all the fixin’s!!
This happened 2 hours ago, btw.
You guys still want to go with “Stellar?”
Ppff yeah! Because it will be stellar!
Ah, speaking of which, I have to tell you, Masahiro and I have a little disagreement about the name of the 2nd CD. I thought it’d be cool to call it Hikari - titled from the song you wrote. The album art I made seems to be appropriate for the title, but Masahiro thinks Hibiki 響き would be better. I think Hibiki would be better if the photoshoot was done outside on a mountain. Anywho, I’ll send it. Check it out.
