Nice work! Looking forward to seeing more~
Oh sweet! Awesome cover, Liam! Man, I’d like to hear it with double kick drums in the background.
This encourages me to try cover a favorite metal band. Each time I practice, I tool around on a few metal licks but haven’t actually covering anything. well there we go! Now I will!
Man, thanks to you for metal, Aki for improv and Karl for Akita Nikata (which is a piece I’ve intentionally avoided), I’m being peer pressured into pushing my abilities!
Okay, you’ve inspired me man! I will take on Children of Bodom! This will take a looong time perhaps, but certainly worth the challenge!
(I mean, if Ortjo won’t, someone has to do it )
Update: Switched to Red Light in My Eyes, Pt. 1
Awesome!
Thanks guys! Will defo record it with some drums soon :D. Ha thats the first children of bodom song I ever heard and it’s still my favourite track by them, good choice Go for it Kyle, I think loads of the riffs in the song will suit the shamisen!
Just practiced it for the first time today! (Red Light in My Eyes, Pt. 1) Almost got the first few riffs of it down already! Hint: Honchoushi!
Oooohhh daaamn Kyle! that will be awesome!!!
Ps. I think Kyle is more suited for this kind of banging :DDD

It’s too bad you cut your hair, you woulda been perfect for it!
kool man cant wait to hear it :D, hows it coming along???
I got the first few phrases down rather well. I was thinking about learning the whole thing before recording it, but that may be a while.
Maybe next week I’ll have something presentable!
Here we go duder! Unfortunately, struck the first note a little late on the beat, but then got cookin’.
Man, after learning just that fragment, learning the rest, as well as others, seems much more doable.
Karl, Adrian, Kevin, Ortjo, frankly anyone! Let’s see some more!
Sweeeeeeeeet! Loved it man, what tuning did you use?
Ah missed this. Need more volume on the shamisen man! But awesome! I’ve found that all the songs I want to make a cover of have to be played using non open strings as the foundation, which sucks.
Liam, love love love! This works great on the shamisen, even better than the original! it’s much cleaner and poignant in your version.
Kyle: How come I like all these songs better on the shamisen!? Your version is great also!
Oh, and I would love to know what tuning Liam used for his cover as well.
Thanks Lorraine! :D, I used Niagari.
Oh! Mine was in honchoushi, forgot to say.
KYLE! 0:32=EPIC METAL BACHI SLIDE! It was a work of Art! seriously Big K! I must appologize for not having commented on this until now! Holy Smokes! And Liam, Excellent and Awesome job With the Gorgoroth cover! Love the clarity of your tone and the bachizuke! Just a very cool experience to hear you play that! Ok! These posts have been just what I needed to get back into some serious Shamisen Rock Out time!
Thanks Kevin
Thanks Kevin! I still need to record the 2nd half of it. Of course, who knows if I’ll have time becaaause Grant, Adrian, Adon and I have decided to start a legitimate Shmetal band!!! At last! Only took two years of yearning!
