First Ever Bachido Challenge - Rokudan

Wow~
Really glad to see that everyone is getting their videos up on here!

I would like to remind everyone that there is only 2 more weeks to upload your entries for the current Rokudan Challenge

So now that all of that is out of the way, I would like to take a minute and say; Yes. I am still alive.

I have gotten emails from quite a few of you, and I apologize about the lack of reply. Life has thrown a lot of “great” at me lately, and unfortunately it has not left much time for myself. Additionally, I have never been the best with time management to begin with… So I guess I could have predicted this

But allow me to say the following

  • I will reply to all of you
  • I will finish the video for the Bachido Summer Gathering (perhaps in time to promote the next one lol)
  • and I will get my entry in for the Rokudan Challenge.

I would like to say that everyone’s entries up until now are very well done! And I look forward to moving on to what I will call PART B of the Rokudan Challenge.

I bet you all didn’t know that this was just the beginning…

Good to have you back Norm!

Happy to see you, Nakamura san!!!

Travis: Now I can play up to San Dan and feel so showy myself. But unfortunately my iPad cannot send video to Bachido (>_

Norm: As always, welcome back! No need to apologize. I definitely know what it’s like to be busy. A full hopper (barista humor!) can feel very stressful, like having a baby or something. (If you know what I mean)

Anyway, thanks for checking in, on this post especially. Honestly, I didn’t really know the goal/reason for the challenge, but I see there is a lot more mystery than I first thought! :stuck_out_tongue: Part B!! Is that where R Yoshida posts a video and demolishes our egos?

By the way, any chance you’ll be able to join us in Hirosaki this May?

Kyoko: Good job on the slang!

Kyoko San! ありかとう! Wahahaha!

very cool I also noticed that  Go Kyoko! I also love picking up words and phrases in english that I read or hear somewhere . . .

(sometimes I rely on the original context and start using them without being sure they actually mean what I think they mean)

BH: I always forget that English is second language for you Europeans, too because your English is as natural as speaker’s of mother tongue. I am glad to know you are also enjoying picking up English as I do.

Bachido English is much more interesting than any other English materials for learners. Since it is directly related to real people and Shamisen learning.

oh thank you Kyoko San (first time I use the san addition and I hope that’s right who knows I might learn some japanese language too in the course of surely following my passion for shamisen in the future) and your english is getting very good too . . .

I liked english as a second language (I guess) from day one and first school lesson at age 10 and not having the option to go on a lot of vacations these days I try to keep it up through the internet, emails, watching clips and movies and having the language of my cell phone also set to english

oh and of course the occasional english speaking taxi guests last but not least 2 folks from the unites states of america on originally austrian arnold schwarzenegger’s team when the probably after mozart most well known austrian guy visited Graz to celebrate the opening of the museum about him at his home village of thal near graz anyway I was not talking much to them but they were talking among themselves about fan relations management which was quite funny . . .

Oh, BH san, thanks for your compliment! Your usage of Japanese SAN is completely fine. And SAN is very convenient MR or MS used after someone’s first name or family name or even both.
SAN is pronounced same as SON or SUN in English.
It must be fun to understand what your famous passengers speaking!!! Like Arnold Schwarzenegger!
I also have fun in Japan speaking suddenly in English and all the English speakers get so surprised to hear me. I seem to be the one who look like a Japanese never speaking English(^O^)/
These days I even enjoy it on purpose to surprise them and look in their face and find the reaction.

Haha that is cool I shall learn some japanese to be able to do the same with japanese taxi guests unfortunately though VERY rare I am not even sure I had one at all like one maybe or pretty sure but he was talking on cell phone from hotel all the way to the airport so good morning 16,40 and thank you was about the extent of that conversation and as he was hastily going to the airport entrance I did not want to leave him with the impression that I had understood the whole phone call so I did not bid farewell with another thank you in japanese words . . .

Ichidan My Little Pony edition

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Still keeping your identity secret. Well played, sir.

And actually, very well played considering that you couldn’t see where you were pressing.

Kudos, KH! You made my Christmas eve right there!

For a Long time I have believed in the exsitance of Therianthropes . This new video by KH now proves it!!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

LOL! At the crescendo part it looked like an “aw yeeeeeeeeee” face

lol very much worth the watch

And so ladies and gents…

We only have a few more days to get our videos up for the Rokudan Challenge.

I, as well, will need to get a video up in the next few days (>_

Time for me to put my self out there!
Here’s my Rokudan. Some missed beats, otherwise I’m pretty pleased with my rhythm and bachitsuke.
All feed back will make me happy as it will improve my playing!
Hope you’re all having great holidays!

It’s my mom commenting in the end, lol. We’re recording it in what was my room, when I lived with my parents in Sundsvall. It was pretty spontaneous. My mom (who’s been making funny faces and holding her ears when I’ve been playing before) suddenly turned up with the camera in my room as I was practicing. Some audiences are harder to please than others.

Anne, you play Rokudan very well!! And you are lucky to have nice supportive Mom.
I cannot show up here but will show my Rokudan at new year’s parties in front of relatives and in-laws.
Hope to play Rokudan together with you in Aomori!

Ok guys! I’m so happy playing Shamisen, and with the support of this community. I am so excited to see how far we can all grow as a team! Tomorrow will be the celebration of one beautiful month together with my first ever Shamisen, but unfortunately, I will be working all day, so I decided that today is the day I post my continuation of my Rokudan challenge. Thank you all for your support! Watching everyone else’s videos has been a huge inspiration for me.

Oh! Wonderful!!! And whole Rokudan play. Congratulations!
すごいです〜( ^_^)/~~~

You two are awesome! Great improvements Anne! I’m glad to see your mom is becoming on board with the Japanese Banjo finally!
Way to go on the bachizuke by the way. That’s one of the hardest parts, and definitely makes it a lot harder to learn quickly.

Travis, I really like your fluidity! You’re doing a great job and look forward to keep hearing more from you.
