I just ordered Kyle’s book after binge watching a lot of his YouTube videos, and am ready to take on building my own shamisen. I plan to use hard rock maple and purple heart wood.

Have you considered one of Bachido’s DIY kits for your first build?

We are very active there, and you may be able to post updates, and get answers, much more quickly, and by more of our members.

@jonnyfive I looked at the kits and considered them an option. Would certainly make things easier. My budget at this time would not allow for such a large investment. Maybe in the future I could get one of the kits.
