FOR SALE - Unskinned Nagauta

Unfort my health has taken a nosedive so i know i won’t get around to reskinning my own shamisen so i have decided to sell the two that need repair.

Shamisen -

Standard shamisen, the pegs that come with it are a little suspect and don’t fit too well. Will come with plastic/acrylic bachi, no koma, strings and an old neo that really should be replaced.
Back skin is broken and the front skin has some tiny holes
The one on the RIGHT hand side

Dark ‘rosewood’ shamisen, SKINLESS, damage to the hatmune which can be covered up. no koma, neo, strings, great quality, looks to be an older one.
The one on the LEFT hand side

Kawahari set -
Made for me out of red oak, boards, pegs etc etc (2 calf skin nagauta size for practice and some blue rope)

~photos to come ASAP, the light is appalling here atm~

Yikes!!! :frowning: What happened, Amanda!?? Are you okay??

I was on some trial medication for m.e and although it worked for a short while i’m not responding any more so i have great problems with strength in my arms and inflammation in my left hand again. It’s not going to get better so i’m probably going to stick with learning to play rather than anything else.

added images, if interested i can take more if needs be

Amanda: If the problem is from too much playing, just stay away from playing the instrument and it can heal your arms. I do not know how long, but sure it works.
I hope you will not sell your instrument.

Hi kyoko-san, no it isn’t from playing and i will be keeping my playable shamisen

Dear Amanda, sending best thoughts and wishes your way. Kudos for keeping up with the playing!

thanks you

I’ve been looking for one of these for a long time in Europe. But since im a total newbie on these things I’d like my purchase to be usable from the very start, if I’d buy one of them, would it be possible for you to re-skin them, and make then playable? While not in the immediate future, but considering this a possible purchase.

it could be possible, it does depend on my health and bear in mind i have only done one before. I would certainly try.

White skins cost between £9 and £18 EACH depending in thickness (from what i have researched unless you would be happy with an unbleached calfskin which is a little cheaper.)

The Newer Shamisen is now considered SOLD
The older one is available.

I’m a lucky ducky.

Hi Amanda. Sorry to hear about your inflammation. Are you still interested in selling your other Nagauta shamisen and how much you are looking to for it.

hi there
apologies to everyone for not updating this post. Had some much going on the last few months.
