Fukaro made from Thai fabrics for sale

Hello Bachido lovelies!
I’ve been pondering ways to keep myself in groceries while I am making instruments over here in my mountain home in northern Thailand and I came up with the brilliant idea of making (and selling!) Fukuro from some of the beautiful fabrics that I am finding here in Thailand, a country famous for its textiles (and mangoes at this time of year!!).

3 different colour/patterns available at the moment.
• Sized to fit Tsugaru Shamisen but I can easily build to custom sizes.
• Fabric is hand woven cotton and they are lined with unbleached cotton.
• I think I’ll sell these at $50 USD each including international shipping. EMS shipping is possible as well.
• If you are interested in one of these beauties, please pop me an email dondtreebpa@gmail.com
•If you go to https://musicforestinstruments.wordpress.com/cases-and-accessories you can find more photos and details.

Here’s a photo of the three colour/patterns that I’ve used so far:

Apologies for the rather commercial nature of this post! Cheers, thanks for reading and all the best, Cath

If there is some interest in these and it takes off a little bit there are some really cool hill tribe fabrics that I saw in the city that I wouldn’t mind trying out too!

Whoops. sorry about the typo on the title!

These are lovely looking materials. Is there any purple on the go?

Hi Philip, not at the moment but i have to go to the city tomorrow and i’ll have a look and see if there’s anything with purple as the main colour.

whoah this is awesome (period) although as a taxi driver I sure enough find myself pondering cash flow continously uh whatever and anyway I want one . . .

would it be an option for you to make a couple of pictures of cloth that might be available for possibly being picked up on another later visit to the city? My color favorites for this would be orange or light blue or something rather light brownish like bamboo . . . since I am not at all into greenish I don’t totally dig the brownish/greenish one you already made . . .

anyway the most perfect timeframe for me would be to order and pay around mid may and if you could then send out a fukuro for me by the end of may that would be awesome awesome . . . (standard tsugaru size would be fine)

Hi BH
I’ll also have a look for orange and light blue when i head in today. The light red one does verge into the orange in places.
Get back to you on the colours later.
Thanks for getting in touch!
Cath

I would really be happy to get one of your beautiful fukuros so looking forward to that and thanks for your efforts . . .

Hi BH and Philip,
I found some purple and some medium brown in town yesterday.

BH, it’s a really nice brown but might be a little too dark for you. Darker than bamboo.
Philip, the purple, well, is purple but has a more uniform ‘pattern/weave’. Very similar fabric texture though.

I did find a light blue but they would only sell it to me at 20 yards at a time. Can’t really afford that for one piece, but maybe down the line if I end up making them regularly. Although, it might be ok to maybe boost the price to say $70 and that way sort of split the difference in the extra cost at my end.

I’ll keep looking but let me know if these are of any interest to you! Cheers! Cath

Here are some photos. I’ve tried to match the colours according to my computer as closely as I can, but y’all know how that one goes!:

Also, the colour I call light red seems to be the most orange that I found. Sort of orange with a texture and then that vertical band is in a light red.

on the one hand it would be so cool already to get a fukuro you made or will make on the other hand if even also the cloth / color would be one I love this would be over the top awesome . . .

so oh well like I said having a fukuro ready for shipping by end of may would be fine for me I wonder if you could snatch a picture of the light blue before possibly later buying it? In the likely case that I like it I could and would happily spend 60 euros (about 67 dollars) tops on that or in case this is all getting overly troublesome for you already with me the difficult customer no problem I can also and would definitely in mid may choose one from whatever cloth or already made fukuro you have available at that time . . .

Hi BH,
O yes, totally good to have what you like the best! Not troublesome at all. I’ll be back in the city next wednesday at the latest and I’ll take a photo of the light blue for you then. 60 Euros will be just fine.
I’ll get back to you next week.
Cheers!

awesome and have a nice weekend thanks

These are beautiful Catherine! I had just bought a kimono YESTERDAY with the intention of making a fukuro out of it!

Thanks Lorraine! O yes, a fukaru from kimono fabric would be really nice.

Hi BH (and everyone else!) Here is a photo of the light blue in that sort of handmade fabric that they have. BH, let me know what you think. If you like it I can probably head into the city next monday or tuesday to pick it up. I know that I promised to get this up on wednesday, but i was crazy busy getting my Thai car and motorbike driving licenses (yes!!!) and it ended up taking me 3 bloody days to get it all done. Cheers to all from Cath who is now legal in Thailandia.
here’s the photo:

oops. it’s not ‘sort of’ hand made. It IS hand made. or rather woven. I also wanted to mention that I do all my sewing on a treadle sewing machine which means that when you get a Fukaru from me, you also get awesome less co2 emissions. That is, if you ignore the shipping from halfway around the world issue.

I could totally work this though… Get yours now before peak oil really hits and makes a mess of EVERYTHING!!!.

woohoo driver’s license great and overall a quite well balanced co2 situation I think (I will go to the post office either on foot or by electro hybrid taxi)

as for the color style YEAH that’s my color  ANY cloth of such or similar LIGHT blue as main color you can buy without further consultation . . . should you see another one with an all shades of blue texture or a plain all light blue one I would prefer that over the one pictured but I also like the very one in the picture so anyway whatever light blue one is fine . . .

I will upload funds to my visa prepaid version card next week so a payment should be possible say next weekend or so and like I said no hurry if you could get to making and shipping the fukuro by end of may that would be awesome . . .

Sounds great BH. I will go back to Chiang Mai on monday or tuesday and will get back to you on how the adventure goes. One thing… if I can get a fabric in light blue in a similar pattern/texture to the purple fabric above, would you like that? It is a fairly common type of fabric around here and I may well be able to find it somewhere and maybe not even need to buy a full roll!
Also thanks for the co2 backup!
Yeah, driver’s licenses… it makes me feel… well… almost Thai!

absolutely this all purple subtle stripes texture would be most awesome if you could get it in a light blue version . . . actually let’s aim for blue as the only color then so whatever cloth that only contains shades of blue would be great even if it was a darker blue I would prefer it over a texture that also features other than blue colors . . . anyway I appreciate this and it will be my pleasure to pay 60 euros also in case you can hopefully find a smaller than a full roll piece . . .
