Greetings!

Hello all! Nice to meet you.

I’m Gustavo, a player from Brazil. Kevin recently invited me to read his article, and to participate here! Thanks Kevin!

Despite being a singer, I used to play a lot of Tsugaru Shamisen and Shakuhachi. Now not so much, being the only player in my home state here in Brazil.

If I can help with any info, or knowledge, please let me know.
I’m so happy to find this community! It was quite hard to find support some time ago!

Yoroshiku!

WELCOME TO BACHIDO!

Hey Gustavo!!

Welcome to Bachido!! (Nuts! Too late for the first response)

I remember seeing your videos since, well, since posting shamisen videos on youtube became popular! Indeed, only a few years ago, finding any shamisen support was almost impossible to come by. Amazing how fast things change.

Glad to have you here, Gustavo! Looking forward to you rockin’ the forum!

Gustavo,

So glad you could make it here! Bachido has been waiting for you! Haha! Please feel free to join in the discussions here! There are lots of people from all around the world both making and learning to play Shamisen.

For those of you out there who have not yet heard or seen Gustavo’s great videos here are some awesome samples…first one is Gustavo singing and playing Shamisen. Truly amazing accomplishment!

Trixter, an original composition by Gustavo! Thanks for the greeting btw! Cool tune!

Check out other Gustavo videos on YT at the channel waraboushi.
Also features Shakuhachi and latest ones with singing.

Welcome Gustavo! I’ve already seen a few videos of you when browsing youtube. You should definately keep the shamisen playing up!

Thank you for the warm welcoming!!

. . . and that continues  enjoyed the videos very much especially the original composition . . . also I think cool that you are on the forum too . . .

Gustavo, your singing and shami play are great! Welcome to Bachido. And your family name sounds like Japanese 江田さん。Do you have a Japanese parent?

welcome : )

GUSTAVO!!!
What’s up brother!? So glad to see you on Bachido!

I second Kyle and Kevin! Gustavo is old school, and I remember seeing his videos back around when I first started playing. Back then, I had watched every single video on Youtube with “shamisen” in the tag. Quite a few of them were his.
I can’t say that it would be even possible to do that nowadays, with how much shamisen has grown. But I really do have Gustavo to thank for a lot of inspiration and ideas in the early days.

You’re an awesome player bro! I think your singing is beautiful and I really do hope you don’t put down your Shamisen for too long!
Do you think you would be able to come out to Japan in the Spring one of these years? It would be an honor to hang out with you again and write some music up in the North!
