Henry Purcell on Shamisen!

Honestly, I sat down to practice a funk song on shamisen when all of the sudden I was inspired to try The Sparrow and the Gentle Dove! One of my favorite Purcell pieces.

As you can tell, the pitch in the second half could have been better, but this was a spontaneous first attempt.

Lovin it! But I’m not too fond of that kind of singing. I would replace it with a flute for a potential shamisen performance.

Love that face at 1:39.
Nice work, Kyle! Quite enjoyed this~

Thanks guys! Karl, you’re lucky I can’t sing and play shamisen at the same time, otherwise I’d be wearin’ them tight countertenor pants myself.

The 'what can I say?" face.

Nice. It seems so easy
 What can we say
 ?

Awesome, Kyle!

Are you referring to lederhosen?

Countertenor can still work, but it was over the top for my taste here.

I only faintly remember wearing one as a kid I think I did I am not sure about that anyway of course nowadays and last but not least thanks to a cooperation with quiksilver there are also those relaxed fit lederhosen boardshorts available so one can truly hang loose on beach days even at warmer temperatures than mountainous rivers in the alps would feature . . .

also I think that sparrow and the gentle dove clip was BAD ASS!

(okay maybe I just happened to watch that movie a minute ago)

(on dvd actually but as above it looks like it’s available on youtube too)

could have been an awesome movie but overall I can only give it an okay rating although Trejo in the lead is great I actually saw him walking around venice beach in clothing I don’t remember when I was on vacation there about 10 years ago . . .

speaking of which I guess it is time to have another shot of (this is a good one with hints of vanilla flavour) bourbon and share a brief version of the story of when I was sexually harassed once in my life and right there at venice beach for sure  so I shower at the beach right cause I can only afford rental car or hotel but not both (awesome place around malibu I found to sleep in the car just outside la btw) anyway and this guy who (surprise of course) seemed to have kept an eye on me from across the mixed with the sand lawn actually comes around the corner a while later as expected to where I had parked my car and I think he would have walked by but for the fun of it I said “Hi” and he came over and we had a small talk that was like “oh . . . austria” but growing stale fast so eventually I said “well is there anything I can do for you?” and he said “yeah I want you to suck my d” so I said “f off” and that was overheard by 2 taxi drivers (I had the first and best parking spot next to theirs) and they called over “welcome to la” and I said “yeah but I like la” and they asked “what did he say” so I told them and they were like “what!?” and “hey come here” but the guy only looked back somewhat dissapointed briefly the poor fat guy and continued walking somewhat lost in the middle of the road so yeah come to think of it cool taxi drivers there before I ever thought about potentially becoming one myself

a couple of days later I happened to sit outside a starbucks at third street (alright coffee at least) and got into a conversation with another guy who turned out to be gay after all he was mentioning “him” as a partner in a relationship he had worries about so I told him about that story and he was like yeah okay “if he was fat” as if I would have cared about that guy being fat or thin although from his perspectiv I guess a valid question (after all I also find it more or less appealing to have a good or bad looking female customer in the cab for a ride) or anyway Los Angeles I guess . . .

Are you referring to lederhosen?

Ah! I actually wasn’t, but since you mention it, I might as well.

Countertenor can still work, but it was over the top for my taste here.

All good, I can balance it out with some death growls. :stuck_out_tongue:

BH: Whoa! I could see that being
LA-ish. (I’ve only been once though) But who knows, that incident may have inspired you to become a taxi driver yourself!

Last month on July 4th, my friends and I were all watching the fireworks on the roof. Afterwards, one of my friends said he wanted to go bar hopping, so away we went! First one was quite a dive, so we soon moved on to the next one which happened to be a gay bar. Well, technically it was a normal bar but it happened to be gay night. Whatever! So we went inside and danced/drank. Those who know me well know that I do not dance unless I am feeling in the mood (which is rare). However, dancing there was actually pretty fun. It definitely boosts your confidence because you know that at least someone there likes what you’re doing.

I have no idea why the Bachido forum inspires so many people to drink and post at the same time, but it always provides interesting stories!

Welcome to L.A. !

That’s going to have to be the title to my next Shamisen composition!

Kevin, after reading BH’s story, I just had a feeling that a song was there.

I hope you guys know that I was fulfilling my duties as a gay man and checking all y’all out in the furo at Fujimirando.

Jamie,
So
what was your honest opinion of th Giant Penis shrine?

Let’s just say I gave it a standing ovation.

Haha (Jamie) and (sight of relief) thanks for taking that story so well I was hesitant to check out the forum again especially as for this thread and shall tune down the whiskey drinking a bit after all there is a great alternative in the form of coffee and orange juice

so yes though (and after editing the earlier post for explicit lyrics) it was a funny experience and along with a couple of other encounters on the 3 vacations combined I spent about a month in la it definitely seemed to fit in to something that could be called la-ish anyway this was on my last vacation to the US I think around the year 2000 when I was there on my own for just about 10 days to mainly do some boogieboarding along the coast between la and what is now known as the location of bachido headquarters . . .
