I may be wrong, but looking at the pictures, your shamisen looks like a jiutta and not a nagauta. Could it be a hosozao juitta ??? http://bachido.com/overview/shamisen-styles

You’re right, Patrick --it does appear to be a Chuzao Jiuta Shamisen. This just proves how much I’ve neglected it in the last year!
