This is a repost from my original Reddit post, any help would be appreciated!
Hi guys, I’m planning to build a shamisen over the coming weeks, and I’ll be using palduak wood for the sao as recommended by Kyle’s book. However, I’ve been on the fence with whether I should create a three-piece neck or the singular neck. I’m not an experienced woodworker so I’m not sure if I feel comfortable making the three-piece sao. At the same time, I plan on keeping/playing this shamisen for as long as I can keep it in good shape, and I’d rather bite the bullet and create the three-piece sao if it means a lower chance the neck will warp. Can I get some second opinions from y’all, what do you guys think?
