So my ma is finally letting me get a Shamisen. At first, she didn’t want me to because she wanted me to play a Western Instrument, but she finally saw I had little interest in most Western Instruments. Once I get the Shamisen, Bachido will have a new Shamisen player, and probably the youngest (I’m only 15). I will be uploading Shamisen videos to youtube (and possibly NicoNico Douga) and being a Vocaloid Producer, I will most likely implement Shamisen into my Hatsune Miku songs. I know it just seems weird to be telling everyone at Bachido this, but I thought I’d tell everyone because I’m still processing the fact I’m getting a Shamisen, and also I just feel like telling everybody. If you want to subscribe to my youtube channel, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/user/SuperNguyenChannel . I only have a few videos and 2 Hatsune Miku songs I made myself (Both of them are covers). and they aren’t that great, but I hope to get better.
Awesome!
Dude Im right there with you bro. I am 15 too, and I’m relatively new as well.
Welcome to Bachido, you guys!
David! That’s Awesome news Indeed! Welcome to the world of Shamisen as you are now just getting your first! I am totally looking forward to your future video posts! Can’t wait to hear more from you! Let us know how it’s going! If you have any specific Shamisen related questions please don’t hesitate to send me a message or just post it here on this forum!
Thanks Kevin :). It will be some time before I get the Shamisen so that will give me enough time to do research and find out all I can. I’m thinking of getting a Hosozao Shamisen because I always liked Kabuki Theatre and Kineie Nami Shachu, one of my inspirations, uses the Hosozao Shamisen. I also have some ideas to combine Shamisen with Vocaloid, and not just in songs, but also in Shamisen Accessories, like Hatsune Miku Shamisen cases, or Hatsune Miku Doukake, etc. By the way, if you have no idea what Vocaloid or Hatsune Miku is, Vocaloid is basically a voice synthesizer, and Hatsune Miku is one of the voice banks, or “Characters” for Vocaloid. It’s kind of popular among teens in Japan, and Otakus in America
Congrats! Always nice to be backed by your parents when you are young!
Thanks Karl. It actually took a lot of convincing to get my ma to let me get a Shamisen. I probably asked her so much she just finally said yes to get me to stop asking Haha. Though, I think it’s really my stepfather’s fault for not letting me get one at first, because he’s a Bass player, and he says he really isn’t into Asian music, and also he says that there are no teachers in Alabama, and that I should learn a western instrument because they are harder and more common, etc. But I think he’s on board with me now.
When you have got into shamisen for a while, you should definately try playing bass too! I think it’s really fun playing multiple instruments. It will help you if you want to record your own music as well as you can record both instruments on your own.
