IndoJap

Today I got to hang with my cool friend and work colleague. She’s originally from India, grew up in Denmark and is now living here in Linköping, working with me! And she’s a great vina player!!!

We quickly found out that vina and tsugaru shamisen really are made for each other.
I taught her Yasaburo bushi and she taught me an indian song that I sadly enough have forgotten the name of.
We named our new genre IndoJap.
This is what we managed to do after a couple of hours of playing together.

It’s recorded with an Iphone and it seems the sound changed when the videos was uploaded, so it’s kind of hard to hear the Vina. :frowning:
We had so much fun so we’ll make more videos in the future, believe me!

I love it when traditional instruments that seldom/never mix are used together. Sounds awesome!!!

cool! i could sooo hear an accompaniment of Indian drums would go great with your Yasaburo!

Damn! Nice uploads. I could pick out the vina pretty good when I hooked my laptop up to my stereo. It’s subtle, but nice and warm; compliments the shamisen quite well. I look forward to more of your duets~!

Yeah sounds good!
My cousin plays the Indian instrument Sitar.
Maybe i should jam with him sometimes :stuck_out_tongue:

I really love the combination!!! It is cool. IndoJap has Japanese melancholic sound and Indian touch.
You got a great Indian friend, Anne!!!

awesome I think Kevin might be overly pessimistic as for his guess on youtube comment that it might take time until 2018 for you to bring out a CD I would say this combination should be featured also on it for sure . . .

Sounded great Anne!

Would it be possible next time you guys meet up to get a higher volume from the vina? Sometimes your shamisen pretty much pushed it aside (because of course more awesome instruments require more space in the musical universe).
