Now I have itomichi (finger nail wear mark) when I play crescendo 04300 san no ito catches, should I keep practising this or do I need to change angle and play with finger pad???
Thanks brian
Hmm… for this phrase, I think using the pad would be acceptable, as the pad is used on the ring finger.
pad?
Itomichi? Are these what the grooves on my antique sao are?
Hello Cody, itomichi is the groove that is formed in the middle of the finger nail on left hand index finger as it is moved up and down sao on san no ito (third string, thin one) can be formed naturally or cut in with finger nail clippers and or nail file. It gives cleaner sound, I have been trying for a while to grow nail but failed so went for a manicure and got a false one. Interesting. …but thats another story
pad?
The fleshy underside of the end of the finger, I had to look up Wikipedia to explain this one.
Just keep at it but maintain an open mind in terms of curving the finger shape . Keep experimenting until you find the perfect angle!
