I video’d this mostly because of Karl’s post of him practicing Kuroishi. We’ve been talking alot about sharing our progression with eachother, so I really wanted to contribute. I thought it made sense to rock Kuroihshi since it is now the go-to starter song for us on Bachido because of the crash course.
Honestly, I’m more than a little embarrassed to admit that I haven’t taken the time to study this song and actually learn it all the way through yet. So this it about an hour of plunking around using Kyle’s video as my guide.
It’s a little fast this time through for my taste, but I just need to practice more.
I know it isn’t perfect, but, hopefully you guys can see what I was trying to do with the mae and ushiro bachi to create musically interesting dynamics. I’ll keep up the studying and give you another one later along!
Oh yeah, and thank you so much everyone for posting videos of yourselves! It’s not the easiest thing to put yourself out there, and we all appreciate the effort!
I liked this. I actually already recorded my playing at my girlfriends summer cottage but i made SO many horrible mistakes that i seriously don’t make when i’m playing alone so i might film them again here inside after practice time and then post hopefully
Thank you for sharing! Always good to have people to look up to!
Of course you wing it! I’m looking forward to the day I can wing it when I forget how the song actually goes.
Your bachizuke looks really relaxed.
I love how you glue your bachi to the skin i mae bachi!
I’ll take that with me and practice, practice, practice!
I’ll be posting my progress as soon as I can find time to play (and not get killed by the neighbours).
Thanks guys! Trust me Ortjo, I can relate. I’m sure I’ve played it better many times myself, but I just had to go with what I video’d and get it up on here to share.
Back in the day I used to practice outside. This was back when I was first starting to get the hang of it, and I would play just bachizuke and tataki strikes over and over and over.
Needless to say, I remember the neighbor specifically coming outside and telling me to quit it since it was banging right into their dining room while they were trying to eat.
I never played outside again, lol.
All of our neighbors are tenants, so even though they wouldn’t dare tell me to quiet down. I still feel self-conscious about unintentionally annoying someone.
