Dx that was horrible, i was practicing shamisen for about 6 hours ish, and a minute ago i was thinking i should take a break and eat breakfest… however when i pulled the koma off the strings and over to where i usually take it off (near sao) it got stuck on one of the nipples and made me drop it on the skin with a really loud SNAP sound x.x;;
scariest moment with my shamisen so far… i was being soo carefull but my shamisens errect nipples cause havoc on my koma when taking it off somtimes… i even custom made this koma to have raised bridge bits where nipples are on shamisen.
I know it sounds silly but I have always taken a personal view that the animals spirit is singing through the instrument (trees, animal, turtles etc.) that’s just kind of my way to come to terms with it being a lover of both cats and dogs (we have 2 dogs and 3 cats where I live) so I don’t know… Maybe just give it a little love and reassure it that everything is fine (again…sounds silly I know…)
I’ve always treated my instruments as beings with feelings, as they do have feelings really and when theyre going to break or somethings wrong if u listen carefully itll tell yea
my shamisen needs a case/ a fukoro bag atleast… its just been sittin in my triple guitar stand when not in use alongside my mandolin and tungna
sounds like the poor nipples are getting chafed…maybe a couple of plasters? (bandaid/bandages for you foreigners)?
(when i used to have a dulcimer and a harp i used to name them and talk to them, everyone thought i was nuts, but i never had any serious problems with them even after i dropped my harp)
oh that sounds nice though and as for the nipple trouble . . . THAT I did not expect but I did already consider the thread title alone quite hilarious . . .
Maybe just give it a little love and reassure it that everything is fine (again…sounds silly I know…)
While it may not answer back, I do like that mindset. Treating all objects as living things (whether it’s instruments, the doorknob, the trees, anything), I think you’ll find that you’ll naturally become more aware and treat everything with a bit more care. When I’m walking in the garden and “turn on” that mindset, everything suddenly opens up in my eyes, almost like I’m surrounded by thousands of beings.
Anywho, I can identify. That said, If you want, you could slice them off right at the surface with a razor blade.
see man this is why as soon as I can afford it Im going for Nittas new FiberSen (even the name is kool).
Yessss!!! I’ll take credit for the name. When adding the new Nitta shamisen to the store, I thought, "There has to be a better name than just “New synthetic skin shamisen.”, Then I let the espresso do the rest.
I knew that shamisen players are very exciting people, but rare it is that the instrument itself gets titillated! (I apologize in advance)

sadly with that mindset, i always have it buut it also causes me to feel bad somtimes for throwing things away XD
ie milk bottle lids… milk jugs… broken stuff… trash/ wrappers… but i think again and know its supposed to be thrown out and that itll be better off ^^;;
I agree i am silly at times though…
I also avoid stepping on leaves when possible ._.;;
I would feel bad for the shami if i cut off his nipples, theyre pretty solidly errect and ive scratched myself on them a few times which tore my skin abit.
ill raise the action of my koma by a centimeter and see how it goes
. . . anyway (as or the details of that nipple discussion) I thought about that sort of also valuing objects sort of mindset a bit earlier actually this week and to think that not only gold came out of stars also all the atoms that organized themselves to a pebble so sort of all the same (source at least) and not to mention all the atoms of a street lamp and anything and everything including ourselves created by earlier stars . . . one of the coolest things ever about the universe . . .
Wow , i first read something about a shamisen trapped with tnt in it apparently , now i read something about the stars and the universe ! Maybe it is the yoghurt i had for desert or my friends put some weird stuff in my tobbaco but i didn’t understand a word on the whole topic thank you bachido members for making me laugh with terrorist Shamisen player and Space Nipples !
