I am from Brazil and want a tsugaru Shamisen,I am a beginner…
I want to bring the japanese culture to Brazil,because i love it.
I already have a Sanshin,now i want a Tsugaru Shamisen and a Gassan Sadatoshi Katana.
Bachido is selling Shamisen for 610$ and I will buy one in the end of 2012.
Will it really cost 810$?
Ir it will cost 810$,then i will save 1000$ and ask my uncle who lives in Kyoto to send me one.

I’m glad you want to get started playing shamisen! I’ve heard there are many shamisen players in Brazil.
Actually, it will increase to $810 by the end of April. :-S Very very soon. It’s a shame that beginner instruments will cost that much, but nothing can be done now, because they are popular sets. In the near future, we are going to try to make very affordable tsugaru shamisen. Maybe sets selling for $300. This is a new development, so it will take time.
Are you specifically wanting a tsugaru shamisen? I have a pre-owned nagauta shamisen for $500. It has natural skin and kouki wood.

Shamisens are very expensive,as like as sanshins. But i won mine from my aunt’s dad.
I will go to japan when i have finished high school.
I will try to keep a lot of money and buy a high quality shamisen,and bring a Gassan sword. Thats my dream
Unfortunately, I don’t. If you wanted to specifically play tsugaru style with the hard, percussive aesthetic, then you should get a tsugaru shamisen. That said, you can still play tsugaru pieces on any kind of shamisen, you just need to play a little gentler.
That’s a nice dream! Since you have a sanshin to have fun with, it’s nice to save up for something really good.
I’ll let you know if I come across an inexpensive tsugaru shamisen
