My bachi is alive...???

Has anyone else encountered this???

Up until now, I have been doing pretty decent with my progress. In fact my left hand is still working decent but my bachi has suddenly come to life and refuses to do as I am instructing. It has started to feel ODD in my hand and it continues to insist on hitting the wrong strings!

Suggestions? Take a break for a day or two? Work through it? Buy a new bachi?

ONLY you, my dear BACHIDO-ites, can give me your infinite wisdom. I sit and meditate while you ponder and answer…noodle, don’t nooodle, bachi, don’t bachi…if only I knew the secret ingredient to become the shamisen warrior…!!

btw…I am working on part B of the online-Kyle-course.

You are probably numb in your muscles due to tightening up too much or simply having exercised and the muscles being tired. It has happened to me as well. Let it rest for a day.

If your muscles are worn out from too much practicing or for whatever reason, you should just practice mentally for a day or two.
Visualize your bachi moving the way you want in your minds eye.
I kinda think I know what you mean by feeling odd etc. I am willing to bet every one of us who has played for a number of years has at least a little bit of experience in the same department. Yeah, I’m with Karl, let it rest for a day!

I’d say, try tequila first. If muscles still aren’t cooperating, give it a rest at least a day, even several is fine. No shame in letting the muscles rest. And as Kevin says, just because the body is resting doesn’t mean the mind won’t stop. And I don’t think even that will take effort.

Admitting this should probably worry me, but I find that if I made a poor shot/latte art in the morning, my mind will go over the whole process in the night, and even dream it (not joking), working out the problems until the next attempt.
Of course, I still failed the next day, but that’s not the point. :stuck_out_tongue:

To relate it to shamisen, the same thing happens if I fail at a kawahari job.

I never dreamed of coffee I think but I remember special coffees be it the coffee or rather good coffee in a good situation . . .

B H,

Those sound like some song lyrics right there!
Haha! Just wait… I might have to add this to my to do list of things that keep appearing as a result of Austria’s favorite taxi driver!
(Rage against the machine cover, Taxi song , and now…Bachido theme song, lyrics by B H )!
Haha! Fun! Did you check out the RATM Shami-cover yet? Killing in the name of! I was thinking of doing some others now cause “killing” was fun as hell to cover!

. . . yeah yeah yeah . . . I thought I’ll wait until I am sober again to reply to the RATM cover thread yeah and the Yousuke thread not yeah . . .

Given how slowly turtles metabolize, there can sometimes be some residual feistiness in the bachi. It just takes it a while to settle down. Like how bugs still kick after you kill them, if you’re into killing bugs. So I hear.

Well, since my current bachi is WOOD…maybe it was made from ENT. haha, I will name by bachi TREEBEARD.

That’s it! The next chapter of the Bachido/monsters of Shamisen movie! The Bachi is alive! Pure classic horror script potential ! I’m feelin it!

Sounds awesome! lol

okay I am sort of sober and I hope the posts above are excusable . . .

since we are back on the topic of scripts and movies I gotta say I had several zombies in the living room a couple of times . . .

and I created them so this is not about inviting any taxi guests to my house on a saturday morning but rather I had swatted a couple of flies and brought in a stun gun I had purchased in hollywood when I was on vacation there for the first time so this was a long time ago . . .

as long as a fly has not been dead for hours or a day a dead one can take off for a final flight that is spectacular I can only say . . . spinning like crazy and once a wing catches the ground it would take off and cross a whole room in a second and I mean one second until crashing into a wall or the ceiling I never tried this outside but it would surely take off and never be seen again

Story line: A bunch of Bachido members meet in an old Japanese mansion (large house, whatever) where a famous Shamisen player committed suicide (or something). The place is said to be haunted and while filming their blogcast - “In the Shadows of (insert famous name here)”…strange things start to happen. Kevin, sorry, but you get a bachi to the head…sticking deep into your skull between the eyes with the corner of the bachi. You don’t even want to know what happens to Kyle! I didn’t think it was possible to fit THAT in THERE…!!!

oh man sounds like you got some ideas . . . without thinking about who this may or may not affect and when in the course of the movie I do think that striking not just strings with a bachi is a cool idea . . . so to speak . . .

would there also be annoying flying around insects in that mansion?

Hehe…Woa! Hey that’s cool as long as Kyle and I can come back as Zombie Shamisenists! And also Neil is going to have to be one of the bachido crew in the mansion as well. He will eventually discover the secret of the mansion and it’s ghost but will find out in the end that some secrets are better left alone as he discovers that the only way out is to either sacrifice himself or face the consequence of being catapulted into an alternate reality where all Shamisen music is outlawed !

I hope I get an acknowledgement in the credits.

Now that Mike Penny has joined us here on bachido we might want to consider him for a role in a spooky story about Shamisen since he already has experience being trapped in haunted mansions…
