New Komas!

3 new komas, heres a height difference… the action is wayyyy higher now ^^;; double what I’m used too and its alot louder with the bekkou koma. I havent tried the plastic one but I might not ever try it as I dont like plastic koma they break my strings. The horn one I might try at somepoint soon though.

My shamisen sounds amazingly loud… like a tsugaru attached to an amp…

Im on phone and not sure what im seein on that pic except for the legendary original stick koma featured in the foreground

Did you buy or make the others? Complete ones or are the notched thingies to be integrated onto the stick koma?

I wanna make another one too but didnt get to anything this week due to exhaustingly long working hours … Gonna at least play this weekend using the existing one … All i did this week was practicing on the saosem i took with me in the car again its cool for learning notation by heart i got sakura and two thirds of ringo bushi down by heart so thats something at least and i tried to figure out pon pon pon ballad and started looking at kevs ninjari instruction video too … Good stuff i can put waiting time to use this way learning something to then try it out for real on the big one . . .

Oh gotta run to the market for a lazy evening drink … thanks tequila boy for the inspiration as for the drink of choice …

damn i didnt run fast enough cheers anyway and happy weekend everyone …

I bought these koma from $5.00 - $15 each  I bought them to compare with my sound from my koma and to find ways I could improve on them.

The original Japanese shamisen koma has a flaw in that its weak and very breakable but made out of materials that resonate well with the body in varying levels depending on the materials of choice. ( also noticed the koma are VERY sharp ) I have to be very careful putting these on around the nipple areas of my shamisen.

This wasn’t a problem with my koma I made due to having carved it to fit over the nipples with no problems.

Amanda groves is helping me towards my goal of a different koma at the moment.

^ to add a plus to the new komas they sound lovely and very sharp in tone and sound tsugaru.

Great! Makes sense that they would be louder too …
