NHK Begin Japanology Shamisen TV !

Hey Bachido,

This morning I finally watched the NHK Shamisen clip that was shown on TV back in september. Having no TV right now I was unable to see it when it came out. I was surprised and really excited cause it came out pretty cool! Both me and Masahiro Nitta are featured in there. And they used my Metal Shamisen band to contrast the history etc. of the Shami!

Anyway I couldn`t contain my excitement after having just watched it like 10 minutes ago for the first time so I decided to post a link to my site so you guys can check it out too! Its up on my band site right now.

Sweet! I recognize that guy from the voiceover. I remember seeing him on English language education tv shows in Japan. You know, the one where they teach Japanese people English by having conversations about Japanese things in English? Oh wait, that’s all English education in Japan…

Still a nice bit of exposure for you, though, man!

Thanks Kyle and Jamie! This morning has been a trip so far. First watching this Japanology thing for the first time and then running into Paco Reyes in the subway! Some days are just trippy!!!

Tried to watch this at work today and my sound card broke. I’m not kidding you, that’s how awesome it was.

Got around to see it now and must say it was really cool! Was interesting to see Masahiro help you out with the hard strikes haha. Grant was playing his shamisen much louder than me when we met, so I got a feeling for how loud I can really play.

Reminds me of when the Abbott Brothers played a gig and a fuse blew right after the show. “Too much awesome” we assumed. :wink:

Sometime it might be good to make a video/lesson in order to convey just how hard you can strike it. Granted, you do have to be careful, and hitting it harder would technically lower it’s lifespan, but it can withstand a lot more impact than we feel in the beginning.
