Which position is the octave?
Is it the 10 position?
In Jiuta it is also the 10, however there is a larger than expected gap between 9 and 10 in tsugaru notation.
In Jiuta it goes 1-2-3-4-4#-5-6-7-8-8#-9-10, 10 being the octave…
I don’t know, I’m just a little confused.
I guess Jiuta ‘catches up’ to tsugaru at the 8#, having started at 1.
Thanks,
Anthony
Hey Anthony. Yea the tenth position is the octave. The notes are all the same, some books and fujaku may number them differently.
0-1-2-3-3#-4-5-6-7-8-9-9#-10
That’s the lay out for trad. Tsugaru Shamisen. 0 being the open string.
