Prepare for Crash Courses!

Now that major Bachido projects have been (or close to) completed, I can finally start filming new Crash Courses for more Tsugaru pieces! These new crash courses will be in the same format as the free Crash Course in the Learning Center (http://bachido.com/learn), but even better!

I’m also pleased to say that Kevin Kmetz will be in the studio next week! I’m almost afraid that it will be too awesome.

Look forward to new stuff!

woooooo super white!

Oh damn I forgot to watch this! Over the shoulder camera will help people a lot, it’s gonna be great!

oh looks like this is gonna be very professional

Finally! :stuck_out_tongue: After posting it without feedback, I thought, “Geez, am I the only person excited about this?”

Very fun day today. My coffee buddy James Ong came up from LA (for Grad school, despite my pleas to pursue Bachido Coffee instead) , so we chatted over a pour-over and several capps. If we recall from episode 13 of the Bachido Blogcast, he bought a chuko nagauta shamisen, sent from Masahiro.

I’m happy to say he is still playing it, and is studying from a nagauta shamisen player in LA who is getting his academic degree in shamisen.

But that’s beside the point. Up UNTIL he came over, I made some finishing touches on the set.

I think I will start filming the first Crash Course on Monday! My plan is for the first song to be Sakura. It will be edited/produced in the same format I intend for the following crash courses (16+ songs), so the purpose of the Sakura course will be to receive final feedback from everyone before I commit on the structure/flow.

And this will probably the view I will be seeing for all of 2013. (Yes yes, trying to work in a social life somehow)

squeee Kyle, you’re brilliant, i was going to struggle by myself with sakura as the first piece i’ll learn, having the tab is all well and good, but seeing and hearing is the best! THANK YOU

Nice! Sakura is one of those songs that people have heard, so being able to play that might get them more interested.

Ha I am sure everyone is looking forward to and will be excited about having the option to learn additional songs via crash courses I mean what could be more awesome? Sorry that my initial reaction to this announcement was that the awesomeness of this is so self evident that I don’t need to comment on that but I am happy to say and clarify also feedback wise what I think of additional upcoming crash courses : awesome (!!!)

Ooh! Seems it is a good first song! I had only thought of it because it’s shorter and so easier for a beta test. :stuck_out_tongue: Being one of the most well known Japanese folk songs is just icing on the cake! :stuck_out_tongue:

BH: I hear you loud and clear! I too can’t think of anything more awesome… except for the espresso I’m about to drink in 2 hours from now. But then that will be gone in 10 seconds. Which means the focus of awesome will return to the crash courses!!

Oh, what else is awesome is if I’m able to get Luke and Mason (The Abbott Brothers) to agree to add Kiss covers to our set.

sounds cool that one . . . also I think it would be cool to have at least one duet piece among the crash courses . . . ( )

definitely I think it would be great to set up prominently along with or at the end of each crash course an option for bachido members to send in their own version of the piece featured in that crash course . . . either invitation to send you a youtube link and you embedding such videos directly on a section page of a crash course or by setting up forum threads for each song and having a link to the related thread for each crash course . . .

. . . or of course and simply via a comment section same way as on article pages . . .

(speaking of which I am currently taking the effort of finally getting the whole of Kuroishi Yosare exactly into my head so I could at least play one original piece beginning to end  and I figure this could also end up as a first video from me to actually do and share in some way on here)

cool…looking forward to this:-D

Awesome! I’m DEFINITELY looking forward to this, too!

BH: Actually, there will! As you may know, I plan to make crash courses for all the pieces in the book, and Kita no hibiki is in there. It would be awesome if I could somehow get Nitta san in for that particular crash course, but we’ll see what happens.

:-O!!! Stellar idea!!! Yes yes yes, I want to make that happen!

About time! I mean, you know I always love looking at an espresso cup (one that is spilled is a little sad though), but it’s about time we saw a face! (That goes for you too Laszlo and Bob! ) Don’t forget that the Rokudan Challenge ends December 1st! (I think)

I did a test run yesterday and results were rather positive! I’m used to first attempts to fail, so having it go so well was a little disconcerting. Just need to adjust the exposure and camera angle a bit, and I should have some awesome footage made quicker than I thought!

Ha Ha:-) Yeah just mooved into a new house… Picture is somwhere on top of my to do list:-D

woooa more crash courses! I am following the first one and thanks to you Kyle I can play shamisen without a teacher (there are no much shamisen teachers here in spain… :P).

Thanks for the effort!!

Laszlo: Awesome!!

Paco: Yay!!! I’m glad you’re having a good experience with it! Now, If there’s anything you think should be changed or couldn’t understand well, please please let me know. I want to be aware of any material to fix before committing on a format.

So, everything’s all ready for filming, but tomorrow is gonna be spent bolting down everything in the house for an awesomeness surge, because the Kmetziest Kevin will be IN … DA … HOUSE!!!

Haha that should be fun . . .
