Progress on Bachido Store

Hey everyone,

A quick update on the Bachido Store. I would say it is around 50~75% complete. I’ve made a lot of progress on getting the product information into the site, and there are only a few products left to be entered in. Soon it will be up to Luke to make it look pretty. :stuck_out_tongue:

I really appreciate the patience you all have! I was very optimistic in my “completion by early September” timeline, so I’m grateful or you hanging in there.

By the way. I may have said before that though the Bachido Store isn’t up, Masahiro and I are fully ready for business. So if there are any shamisen items you urgently need, please let me know.

Cheers!

Kyle

I’m happy to see that the dollar/yen rate has gotten a bit better since I last checked. Hopefully it will continue that way.

Excellent, thank you sir.
I made a simple comparison chart based on your information for myself; would you like it as well to share with the Bachidos (the Bachido community…yes, I just coined that)? I don’t know exactly how many people will find use in it, but it always helps me out when I use one; which actually might be a cool feature to integrate right into the store, if you have the time of course (REI’s comes to mind if you need a reference).
I also have a number of questions about the shamisen (whoa, wait…is shamisen the singular AND plural form? lol. I assume yes, but never really thought about it until now…just want to confirm.) you listed as well, but too many to ask right now and too little time. Hopefully sometime later this weekend I’ll be able to ask them.
Thanks again!

Will we be able to buy shamisen parts/accessories a la carte through your site as well?

uh sounds nice - getting an actual shamisen seemed like a far out idea for me but . . . so looking forward to the store being up

Nicholas: Ooh! That would be cool to see! I’ll send you a PM. I like comparison charts too. That’s a good idea. Yeah, shamisen is both singular and plural.

Monica: Yes. All of the shamisen accessories will be available here. It will take quite a bit of time to list them all on the forum (time which can be spent for me making the actual store  ), so if there is a specific item you have in mind, please let me know.

B H: Well, hopefully we can turn this far out idea into a close up reality!

Hey all!
Wow this is so exciting! Two years ago a have given up the idea of learning Shamisen, due to the lack of resources & Shamisen traders outside of Japan, but with your site i feel really confident again!
It was just about time someone brings up something like this! =)
For that Kyle I want to thank you so much, I am sure you will help many people to make their dream come true!
Alright… as for now I have only a single question - any news about the store going online? :3
'cause… you know… i need a Shamisen! (

Hey Libor,

Welcome to Bachido! I’m glad we can inspire confidence in your dream to place shamisen again! Let’s make it happen!

The store is getting more and more complete. Most all of it is polished. We just need to get product weights in order for Luke to make it so the site automatically calculates postage fee. It’s really getting very close to completion!

Until then, we can assemble your order now. I’ll write you about that.

Cheers!

Kyle

Yes Libor it’s awesome  i was in the same situation like you were/are and about to give up all hope but don’t give it up  i got mine and you will too! The store here will help you get one  i had to do a lot of stuff to get mine but it was before Bachido was created.
But when i got the news that i would actually get my Shamisen i bought the book and so should you it’s really helpful!

I really can’t wait until the Bachido store opens up. I feel like a kid waiting for the awesome, new candy store in town to open up.

Can you post the prices in USD as well?

Just throwing some ideas out there, but you’ve probably thought of them already.

You could have a little sound clip of what a particular style of shamisen sounds like, so people have a better idea before they buy.

Are you also including things like the finger sleeve you talk about in your lesson one videos? I basically made my own really quick, but i think the material needs to be more stretchy.

It would also be cool if you could give a little discount if someone buys a ‘start up set’ of accessories for shamisen  nudge

Hi Hali,

Welcome to Bachido!

Ah yes, Please take a look at the Styles of Shamisen page (http://bachido.com/overview/shamisen-styles). There is a youtube link for every shamisen so the reader can listen to how it sounds.

Yes, Yubikake (the finger sleeve) are included with the shamisen set. The yubikake is knitted, so I think that makes it stretchier.

Good point about the discount! Actually, Bachido doesn’t take any profit on the beginner accessories, so that helps bring the price down a bit. We currently have prices as low as we can. Hopefully we can get prices even lower as time goes on.

Cheers,

Kyle

Hey, Kyle. I always wanted to play Shamisen. One questions, Are you going to be able to send shamisen it to europe aswel ? i live in The Netherlands but there are only snake skin ( Not shamisen thing ) here. i hope i can order it at this website soon when its done

Hi Maza,

Welcome to Bachido!

Sure! We can send shamisen to Europe.

The website is getting closer and closer to completeion, but we can start your order now. I will send you a Private Message.

Cheers,

Kyle

I will enjoy checking out the store . . . since I am not sure about buying shamisen I shall wait for it to be online . . . well you shouldn’t miss out on potential christmas shopping sprees but that said congrats on not rushing things so to speak I can relate to website stuff always taking longer than one might have thought

anyway looking forward to this as it seems to be done by a dedicated bunch of people . . .

Thanks. With any luck, we might be able to get it done in time for the Christmas rush. But as Luke reminded me this morning, there will be more work after we get the information. Right now, we’re currently waiting for Masahiro to get weights for all the products, which would allow the website to automatically calculate shipping costs. Once he gets that, the final stages can begin.

I’m glad there is anticipation! I promise I’m not just being a tease!

Hi Kyle. Thanks for your work.
I’m interested in buying a beginner shamisen set.
Since I live in Russia I’ve got a couple of questions.

  1. What are delivery rates and is Paypal an option for payment method?
  2. In Russian post they play football using parcels. Well, sometimes it looks like it. So the question is how “strong” the parcel will be. It will be a great disappointment if shamisen arrives broken.

Hi K H,

I’ll send you a Private Message, as Masahiro needs your address to calculate postage.

Yeah. Paypal is the method we prefer!

I had a friend in the US post office, who said the same thing. They aren’t gentle with packages here either. Anyway, the parcel is meant for shipping shamisen, and he will use enough packaging to keep it from breaking. However, your shamisen is guaranteed, so we will send another if it does break.

By the way, if a mailed item breaks during shipping, is it possible to file a damage claim (to get money back) in Russian post offices?
