Don’t know if you still need cosplay ideas but, there was a shamisen playing spy in an episode of Naruto Shippuden. (#191, I just found out. You can see it on Crunchyroll dot com.) Sorry, I can’t remember her name.
There’s an animated movie called Dixie dynamite that has a lot of Shamisen in the score. Sadly I can’t find much info on it anymore. Not even enough to make it worth posting a link. Maybe this anime just didn’t make it and is forgotten. I don’t know…but it does include a Shamisen rock version of Freebird which I think is used during the end credits or something . If anyone finds more info on it feel free to share!

Yeah I know you’ll see my name in the credits (if u search it) because I was the Shamisen player on the soundtrack. Didn’t care to mention that at first because I know so little about it in spite of having been hired by the composer that I probably seem silly mentioning it. But then I thought I might seem even sillier not to mention it. Honestly I have never even seen the entire film, only the scenes with my Shamisen playing in the background.
