i go to a couple of anime/manga/cosplay conventions a year (in addition to a steampunk fair)
I’d like to promote bachido and shamisen while i’m at them if i can oncei have my shamisen and begin learning.
I can only think of 3 anime that have shamisen:
Nitaboh film/ova
A character in Samurai Champloo (assassin)
A character in Peacemaker Kurogane
Does anyone know of any others?

I might get into this whole anime/manga/cosplay (at least watching) thing too sometime and great that you would promote shamisen and the site . . . should get some stickers for this for free I guess come to think of it we could use bachido stickers . . . coming up I hope !!!
Actually i’m not hugely into it or anything, i just like to go along with my best mate to keep her company and have a laugh.
I thought about this as something for me to do and not feel like i was such an outsider.
I already have a few kimono and obi etc so i thought this would be cool to do with the shamisen as well.

I used to watch a lot of anime before. I seem to remember that this anime has 1 or 2 episodes about a possessed geisha that plays the shamisen.
Steampunk cosplay! Boy, if I had the motivation, I’d like to go dressed up as a giant wingnut. 
I’m afraid I don’t know of any, but I was recently shown a clip of a Japanese movie called “RoboGeisha”, which features RoboGeisha playing shamisen while cruising in her GeishaTank.

Oooh!! Great idea!! How big would you like it to be? I can have stickers made online if you want something adhesive, or would it be better just as a business-card thing?

Kyle, either would be cool, was just trying to think up something fairly easy and cheap to do so i wouldn’t have to keep remembering all the information.
I’ve already pencilled in ayacon that is next year and will probably be doing that in kimono and with shami, so it just seems right to me to cross them over.
I have no problem making them up or printing if you didn’t want to go to the expense, i already have a few office supplies and some decadry software, it would be a matter of importing a logo and then printing out (making sure it’s approve etc)

Oh, it’d be very little expense, methinks. However, if I whipped it into a PDF, it would only take a minute or two for you to print out and cut… I’ll send you a PM when it’s done.

Well my anime culture in stuck in the middle of the 90’s , i don’t remmember seeing any shamisen in Cinty Hunter or Ranma

Nitaboh is a great idea for promoting the shamisen , it’s modern style anime and the animation with the shamisen and the sync with sound is amazing , if i need to say something bad about this movie , they totaly failed at drawing the Tenjin but that’s ok !
Anyway , Amanda your idea is awesome, i had the same few month ago but then thought “well there will be a majority of naruto and one piece fan , they even give a damn about traditional culture” but i’m sure i am wrong and people will love it , a good thing would be to show some bachi as well maybe ?
I’m maybe too much of a fanboy but , another good way is to tell about the game Muramasa : the demon blade , the ost contains a lot of shamisen and traditional music in general mixed with some badass metal . Sometimes you can see shamisen in the buildings in chinese shadows , not much but the game is based on Japanese myths … i’m acting fanboys , just check the ost

its kinda girlie in terms of the drawings, but its a tsugaru shamisen manga.
