Question about Bachido Coffee

Hello.

I was thinking about buying Bachido coffee as a gift for my mother (she loves coffee and drinks it every day) Since I know absolutely nothing about coffee, I am not sure what machine is needed to make this coffee. Do I need some kind of grinder? My mom has a pretty high-tech coffee machine but I’m not sure…

Oh snap! I just roasted a batch for a recent shamisen customer today!

Anywho, if she loves coffee, I’m sure she’d like this. Do you know if she likes dark roast of light roasts? This coffee is lightly roasted so the coffee is fruitier and very drinkable, like tea (like tea, Amanda! Like tea! ).

It can be made with any machine - drip, espresso, Chemex (my favorite), anything. If she has a high end machine, she may have a grinder as well (which is key to have the freshest coffee possible).

It’s time to get you drinkin’ coffee as well, eh!

So this coffee is or isn’t already grinded?
And maybe a weirder question… Can you grind coffee with mortar and pestle?

I am 99.6% sure it is not grinded but full beans . . .

I guess Kyle might want to offer a choice to order beans or powder seeing that he has this high end standalone grinder doing so may not compromise the quality too much . . . or the quality grinding could make up for the slight loss in freshness especially in case one could choose grinding for drip or espresso machines since the grinding should in a perfect world be rougher for drip and finer for espresso machines as far as I know . . .

I am sure your mother as a coffee drinker would appreciate this bachido coffee light roast specialty so I guess since you say she got a high tech machine it is not a drip filter grinded coffee machine but an espresso machine and you need to figure out whether her espresso machine has a built in grinder and needs beans or does not have a grinder and needs already grinded coffee . . .

usually the more expensive ones include a grinder and are filled with beans and the built in grinder grinds one portion at a time just before you have that cup of coffee . . .

grinding with a mortar and pestle would be hardcore haha don’t know whether this would result in anything usable on top of the hard work for sure . . .

as far as I remember around here some supermarkets had or have grinders standing around so you could grind beans you just bought but I never used them depending on the machine I had I either bought beans or already grinded coffee . . .

does the machine of your mother make a loud airplane jet engine like sound for a couple of seconds before the coffee starts to drip down? grinder at work . . . I had the same problem christmas 2 years ago with regard to coffee gifts to my sister and again this year when I sent out coffee to Israel and Japan at least my sister could make use of the already grinded coffee using it with her drip and with her stove top espresso machine so in case your mother also got every sort of coffee machine in existance there should be no problem . . .

Yeah its a coffee machine built into the wall. I am pretty sure it makes a loud noise. What is the standard (simplest way of making the coffee) ?

drip tastes rather lame compared to espresso machinated coffee, capsules (nespresso and others) can be good but the capsules are rather expensive, espresso machines for grinded coffee are fine, espresso automats with built in grinder get you coffee by the push of one button and make a jet noise but are more expensive as for the machine, a cool low cost alternative in case you want to avoid drip machines are stove tops which were also the first and “original” italian espresso machines and are still commonly used and make somewhat cooler than drip machine coffee . . . stovetops start at 15 bucks for aluminium ones 10 bucks or so more and you can get the preferable stainless steel ones . . . stovetops for hundreds of dollars are available too though but one for 30 or 50 should be fine . . . stovetops you simply put on a stove like a cooking pot . . .

as for the electric espresso machines their designs vary so much that it can be hard to tell at first sight if they got a grinder built in . . .

soaking coffee in water somehow already gets you coffee (drip machines are just a convenient way to do that) and like a “turkish” style coffee is drank without even filtering out the grind so anything is possible and all of it easy to prepare I would say . . . a matter of taste and funds of course . . . espresso machines don’t let coffee soak but push water through rather fast with high pressure which makes for great taste and good looking brown crema foam too . . .

as for preparation method an espresso shot is the healthiest and got the lowest caffeine even though it tastes the strongest whereas decaf is the unhealthiest and filter drip got the most caffeine ending up in the cup . . .

coffee includes caffeine and other ingredients that upset some peoples stomachs and are untasty and the longer the coffee got contact with water the more caffeine is washed out and later those not so agreeable other ingredients get washed out too . . .

which is also the reason why the original “verlaengerter” (full cup of coffee) around here got its name and should be made of an espresso shot and filling up the cup with plain hot water rather than just letting the espresso machine go for longer to fill the cup . . .

coffee is awesome I hope this helps having a cup is greater than all the theory but since I got a cup of coffee covered and am on the internet in the morning just now on a day off I got the time too . . .

I cant wait to try this fresh roasted Bachido Coffee!

yep we have the grinder machine

BH: Oh my. That was super thorough!

Michael: Hopefully it should be coming in a few days! Perhaps a video review could be done for Stev?

Ah yes but of course. I only have the drip method, but none the less I will review for Stev and all…

For all Bachido Community and for Stev. A unique and quirky Bachido Coffee Review.

Please excuse my crude Video Skills. This is my first video/youtube video ever!

Oh yeah!!! Props to you, Michael! Stoked you like the coffee, and glad you made a video for it!!

Indeed, you will be getting your shamisen soon. With Nitta san coming to California and immediately going on tour upon returning, order progress had significantly slowed down during the month, but now he’s back in bid’ness.

Man, though I had an espresso and two cups this morning, I wouldn’t mind a milky cup o’ Creamy Kevin right about now!

Everyone should try Bachido “Creamy Kevin” Coffee!
And if one has no grinder, just chew on a bean like me.
I hoped not to disappointed with video review…

I give props to all that make videos… I was getting wore down towards the end.

P.S.
I should have been studying today, but this was way more fun!

Bachido Community Rocks!
