I have started the very tedious, careful rebuild first of the wooden case so I will have the original storage when I continue. The case has some dry rot areas that must be rebuilt so the boards can be reassembled securely. The boards were originally put together with pegs with a diameter of 3mm. I suspect they are bamboo…they are much harder than the boards they hold together.
After some correspondence with Kyle this shamisen may be 90-100 years old. It’s going to be slow but I will try to provide updates.
