So, how many of you who will participate in the Hirosaki Taikai 2013 want to join in on a road trip from Tokyo up to Hirosaki.
The plan was spelled out on the thread about the Taikai, but in short version.
We travel from Tokyo on the 30th of April and stay one night on the way up. Do a little sightseeing, play Shamisen, maybe a little street performance and then move up to Hirosaki the next day, arriving on the 1st of May, with plenty of time to practice our Jongaras and the group song.
We will then have a car to go in when we move on to Kanagi from Hirosaki, which is a bonus!
Of course we could make the road trip longer, if someone has any ideas of good places to stay on the way. We could devote three days, with two over night stays if we want to.
It’s all up to us!
I always wanted to do a road trip through Japan, and I’m thinking this is a superb opportunity!
I’ll be in the Tokyo area from around the 18th of April (hopefully with Grant), to practice my Martial arts training and meet up with friends. I do hope I get to meet you guys who already live in Japan!!!
So tell me!!! Who’s up for some serious trippi’n!!!
I definitely am up for the road trip!!
Just still waiting for the funding. And uhh any deadlines as for when do i need to know if i can come or not?
I’ve made a few calls and signed some papers and i was told at the phone that there is one website/group from which i have big possibility to get funding from but the application can be filed at the first week of 2013 or so and the decision if i get the funding from that or not will be made only a month or 2 before the actual trip…
Quite a hazzle
I also learned that i should’ve made some applications at October from which i would’ve had the biggest chances of getting the funding.
You think we would get as many people going every year? or next year?
Just thinking that if i don’t get this funding now, i have big chances of getting it next year since i now know from where and at what time should i file the papers in
That’s a good question. Personally, I won’t be able to attend the road trip, but I do think it’s a great idea. However, now that Team Bachido IS happening, the trip should be discussed/decided ASAP.
Being that it’s some people’s first time to Japan (and possibly arriving at different airports), I think confirming rendezvous points should be fully decided by the beginning of February.
Now that we have people signed up for the taikai and May draws nearer, it is now time to reevaluate whether or not you guys are interested in coming along!
