So I randomly came across a video of a guy playing Rokudan on an Okinawan Sanshin. I know what you’re thinking: “Oh my Kami! That is so awesome!!”, and you would be right. His youtube name is literally Toshi Shamimaster, and he has a few actual Shamisen videos on youtube. Because of the Sanshin’s shorter scale length, it should be a little easier to play Rokudan. Now all we need is someone to play Echigo Jishi, Tsugaru Jongara Bushi, or Yoko Nagayama’s Jongara Onna-Bushi on a Sanshin and my life would be complete
Toshi is a member here and participated in the first Bachido Taikai team! Check out some highlights here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj1C9IP8H8g
Nice. Oh how I wish I could be at a Bachido Taikai someday
Almost 2 years later and I am wearing that exact same outfit today as the one I have on when I first appear in that taikai video. That’s weird.
Oh my… There is more footage of me hitting things with chopsticks than of me playing shamisen.
And without Toshi, we would have had much less minyou on our trip, and that would make us all sad, for sure!
At the start, he was not tuning, which makes me a little “concerned”
