Long story short… that Sakura shamisen is awesome. I want it. But the $$$ issue is obviously the problem, haha.
So, I’ve decided to see if anyone’s interested in my Tsugaru! I’m honestly pretty happy with it, so even if I don’t end up selling it, que sera sera, you know? But anyways, here’s some pics and details:
It seems very pre-loved to me. Both skins are intact, but the the itomaki has been filed at certain areas to ensure a better fit, which means that the previous owner probably played it quite a lot in the past (and was confident enough to improve his/her shami through DIY - sounds very Bachido-y, actually).
My fave part is that absolutely beautiful wood grain at the bottom of the sao. I THINK that this tsugaru is karin, but the grain looks pretty kouki-ish to me, so you never know.
I’m thinking of a price of around USD585-ish, since it doesn’t need any repairs.
Obviously I’ll have to find a way to get remaining money from somewhere else before I can buy the Sakura shamisen, haha. Anyone interested in buying a kimono from me?

Oh wow! I’m interested. I run a Tsugaru Shamisen school up here in Aomori (Misawa city) and I’m always looking for another Shamisen for students here to play and learn on etc.
I would feel bad about taking away this Shamisen from you . But if your intention is to get the Sakura Shamisen then my feeling is that I want to support you! Because I think the Sakura Shamisen is Fantastic !
Only problem is I will not know about my finances until around mid July. So I won’t be able to commit to buying this for another month or so. Don’t worry if someone else comes sooner than me and wants it. I’ll just say for now that m interested but not sure etc.
