Shamisen Obsession with Wacky Jpop songstress continues...

Thanks B H !

OK, So Just Now I recieved a message from Kyle telling me that he and some other (I’m pretty sure Bachido Members) just saw Pamyu Pamyu LIVE! All right that’s it! I demand a concert report/review here on this thread since the topic is already about KPP!
You guys who got to see her Live…how was it?
Details! Details! Details!

Yes yes! Adrian, Grant, Xander and I witnessed Kyrary Pamyu Pamyu live, as well as Tanaka Reina! (Which was a surreal surprise, as I used to be a fan of hers when I was 18)

As I just wrote you, Kevin, we were all thinking, “Kevin really should be here!!” We knew you’d have your shamisen with you plugged into a belt amp and playing along with her, maybe even getting up on stage. Anyhow, we both missed and felt your presence at the same time! Tsuke tsuke and Invader baby!!! I took a lot of footage, so it’ll certainly be on the next blogcast.

In the meantime, here’s a little snap from the video which captures the basically… it.

The backup dancers were incredibly awesome too.

Adrian! Concert review!

J-Pop Summit Festival in San Francisco and KPP on world tour this year oh my I know what I will be searching for and watching hopefully this evening and indeed I hope that Kyle would share some detailed report about this . . .

oh okay looking good

Yeah Adrian! Concert Review!!! This also gives me another reason to Skype you again! What are you doing 24 hours from now?
In the mean time as of this moment I am now just “One Song” away from having translated the entire Nanda Collection onto Shamisen.
Here is my latest upload . It’s the title track. Oh but of course I’m actually not playing in this particular video. It’s obviously my friend Ghetto Panda! Anyway, enjoy!

OK !!! THIS IS IT! Ladies and Gentlemen! I’ve finally done it! As of 8:00 pm last night, Japantime, I have now officially covered the entire Album… Nanda Collection by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu! I’m officially finished with Kyary Shamisen covers! (That is, until she comes out with a New CD) It’s been a Fun road and although there are a few songs from her past that I neglected to cover (simply because the cheesy factor was just too unforgivably high) I must proudly announce that I’ve now played and uploaded all of the KPP tunes I set out to do.

And so folks, Here it is… My final installation of the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu “Shamisen” arena . It is a profound and touching song about modern life in Japan and about riding your scooter to go reunite with a loved one!

I give you, my Shamisen version of “SUPER SCOOTER HAPPY!”

Kudos for the project Kevin

You’ve earned the right to wear the panda mask anytime you want. No questions asked.

Right On! I hate when people ask me questions while I’m wearing my Panda Mask!

you captured that also in the cover version . . .

and now I am not the guy who could ask for even MORE but I really think you should do an article about the kpp project as a finishing touch (for now), and to have your favorite or all clips in one place and not have this topic lost in the forum for new visitors and everyone and to have a LINK to a special feature page about this whole project where there is an introduction a little background and clips to check out I think that would be good also for potential other people to notice the project over time . . .

I did this one a while ago. It’s also from Nanda Collection. Always been sort of proud of this one! meant to include it sooner…

Good point, BH! You know, because Kevin is not only covering KPP songs, but also has put a lot of thought into why he does, I think this should be the subject of… a Bachido article!!

Whadaya say, Kevin? A story of how you got into KPP and how initial resistance evolved into covering her entire albums? Of course, all of the videos would be interspersed in the story, which they can watch/listen to as they read. Then it can be immortalized for the ever!!

so I guess you just want to party with Tom Morello I mean obviously no need to meet him to talk about playing techniques . . .

ah I see you posted at the same time Kyle yesterday a second before me I can only say I agree . . . and I was amazed by the sounds Kevin produced in that posted clip it made me think of tom morello’s work

All right everybody!
Just as a quick update …

For a while I’ve been thinking about writing down this story in an article form. After reading both Kyle and B H 's encouragement here on the forum I went ahead and finally wrote something which I submitted to the Abbott MEISTER over the weekend! Still in rough draft form but probably ready to post soon enough !

Stay tuned. . .

wohoo great looking forward to that with Gerry’s thesis and that article I have a good mix of shamisen related reading covering ancient and modern times then . . .

Ok…so I have more or less finished the new article. I need to make a few adjustments and also need to post some new vids to go along with it. But if all goes well and Kyle has time to get to posting it soon then we might be able to get it up in the article section within a week or two!
In the meantime my good friend Panda has agreed to entertain you with another KPP tune from nanda collection called Kura Kura!

I always enjoy these vids ^^. Had a bad day today but this cheered me up.

Thanks Stev J! Glad to hear!
