Hi there
My shinobi goma keeps breaking my san no ito (about once a week), although there is indeed a correct notch for the passage of the string. Is there something to replace the traditionnnel plastic shinobi goma ? I think that this topic has already been discussed, but I can not find the posts. Sorry and thank you in advance.
Hey Patrick
Maybe the notch has sharp edges.
Try to smooth them out.
I got a shinobi goma without notches, though.
Cheers
Ale
Thanks Ale, I’ll try. Pat
I used a thin round file to get mine smooth. If the file is not a rod, but instead turns into a point you should file it from both ends.
Hi Patrick,
I agree, there might be a microscopic burr or something cutting into the string. If you have a thin file, that will work. You could then use a hard piece of thin smooth material (anything smooth that will fit inside the groove) to run back and forth along the groove. I think it could help dull anything that’s microscopically sharp.
Let’s wait a few days, but I think it’s ok now. I used a thin file and I hope that will work. Thanks
