Hello everyone,
I recently bought one of these “shinobi Koma” because I’m still learning. However the thing is to long for my shamisen (suzuki ms8)! i cant put it far back enough without going under the edge of the cloth on the top side. Is this usual when using one?
Would it work if i trimmed it down in side?
Thanks for taking the time to read this .
It’s okay if it goes under the doukake (thing you put your arm on). A shinobigoma should basically go from edge to edge, The fact that it touches the wood frame underneath the skin is what makes it quieter than a normal koma.
Yes John is right. Make sure you file the notches for the strings. Use your regular koma as reference ifyou like. I played on mine without notches for a while and it was bad.
Ahh I understand.
Thanks for your help John and Karl
